He tells his wife and she tells him “yeah right, take out the trash”.

He goes to the bakery and tells them take me first I’m saving the world and they tell him take a number.

His dog already looked at him like a god.

I guess the life of a super hero isn’t always glamorous.

Doesn't the bulbous bow appear to be off-center? I know it is difficult to tell due to the curvatures and camera angles, but when irresistible forces meet immovable objects, what gives?

Noticed that right away.

At first I thought, gee, not much chance of pushing that ship off, but I think he's dredging sand from underneath the bow. Still looks like a futile attempt, though.

suffered from a bent hull. An intricate conspiracy theory arouse that the Olympic was purposely disguised as the Titanic and debilberately crashed. Not to give merit to that belief, but that belief is based on a ship with a type of hull damage is not seaworthy. Reports are the Ever Given will be towed to the lake and salvaged.

Read about the Oylmpia/Titantic switcheroo years ago.

I was thinking it would need to visit a drydock for rebuild, but not sure one exists that would handle a ship this size.

I think I see ripples in the port side of the bulb at waterline. That would reinforce the speculation that the bulb was bent to port. Regulatory authorities won't like that. At all.

The ship is beached on both sides, and is sagging in the middle. Just clearing out sand so round the hull isn’t going to help, they have to clear out the sand and mud underneath the hull.

Something like the Big Muskie:

Largest Dragline in the World

Mining operations have a long and complex history, with several giant machines being built in their heyday that still holds world records! One such dragline bucket excavator holds the record for largest dragline in the world, even though the machine has been out of operation for nearly 30 years!

Big Muskie

Big Muskie was a legend among machines while in operation. Also called Muskie and Ol Musky, the machine was a model 4250-W Bucryus-Erie dragline. It was the only model ever built, and took two years and some 200,000 hours to construct. When Muskie was built in 1969, it cost $25 million dollars. That’s approximately $171 million today!

Big Musky holds the record of being the largest dragline in the world, and its size and scope was on par with the largest bucket excavator record-holder, the Bagger 288!

How Big Was Big Muskie?

Big Muskie had an enormous bucket that could hold two greyhound buses side by side. It needed so much power to operate the cables and motors, that the electricity used could have powered 27,500 homes while the machine was operating!

I grew up around the phosphate mining industry and before Big Muskie there was the Super Duper Scooper. For a while just after it was built, Super Duper worked a few blocks from our house, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The draglines used in Florida phosphate mining are walking draglines. Here is a video of moving one:

Yep, they put the feet down and pick up the entire massive machine! All while it is still attached to the power grid. I remember when they moved to Super Duper Scooper across Hwy 60 - a major four lane road. They had to re-route traffic for days.

Oh - in the video behind the mast there is an osprey nest - ospreys are really common in the Polk County area, partly because of all the ope water created by the open-pit mining.

I think it was in Ohio, on a vacation trip with my parents. It was a bit of a tourist attraction because it was so huge, & they sold little mini-books about it. I remember being amazed that the "cab" part of it looked as big as our 2-story house.

... fun to watch, and good music.

I remember when one of the draglines crossed Hwy 60 on the west side of Alturas. That was remarkable to witness. We missed seeing it move but saw the lead-up to it. I'm guessing that was 25-30 yrs ago.

That was when they moved it away from our neighborhood in SW Bartow. That would have been in the mid 1960s. We were disappointed since they moved on a school day and they wouldn't let us kids go out to watch. Considering how many of us had parents who worked in the phosphate industry, I still think they should have let us go as a school outing!
