March 25, 2021 at 12:20 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard
Sen. Thom Tillis would have lost his 2020 reelection bid in North Carolina if it werent for revelations of an extramarital affair by his highly touted Democratic opponent, the senators pollster said, the Washington Examiner reports.
Pollster Glen Borger said two things particularly worked against Cal Cunningham: One is, it connected him to John Edwards young, smart, lawyer, handsome. Not the family man you think he is. And then secondly, his whole story, essentially, was a lie.

Uggh. We could really use that additional vote right now in light of Manchin's antics. NT

(26,727 posts)2. No surprise there
Tillis outperformed the final polling averages by about 4%... but Cunningham was up by closer to 6% prior to the revelations.

A stupid, self-inflicted wound.
It's not like it was even an affair from years ago.....it was while he was campaigning.
I jokingly asked at the time if John Edwards was one of his campaign advisors.
If Cal Cunningham ever runs for office again as a Democrat, it will be too soon.
Fuck that guy.

it would be the Spring before your winnable Senate run.
That kind of bad judgment is, well, really bad.

his hubris in thinking this wouldn't come to light enraged me.
