The story today is not about coronavirus vaccines, or border solutions, or economic recovery, because all of those things depended on the election of Joe Biden. If the Republicans get their way, no matter how popular Democrats are, they will never again get to direct the government.

1. We've been warned

If the Democrats let McConnell filibuster good legislation that will make America great again, they will get thumped in 2022 like they did in 2010 when vast numbers of the electorate stayed home because the people demanded a public option for healthcare and the Democrats failed to do the bidding of the people. They chose to do the bidding of the insurance and medical lobbies . If they start an investigation of Elaine Chao (Mitch's wife) Mitch could have a change of heart. And while they're at it they should make Mitch talk about offshore money laundries under oath.
It's time to neuter the bribing class.

3. You forgot about the Koch-funded (ersatz) Tea Party Movement.

It got all the airtime, as I recall, and hooked the GOP and many disgruntled independents.

4. A lot of the Democrats remind me of my bother in law.

One afternoon, my brother in law jumped into is jeep and drove to my place. We live next door, about 100ft apart. He came over to tell me that his house was on fire. I asked him if he had called the fire department. He paused and called 911. Him and a friend have a couple of motor homes parked in front of the house. I asked them if they thought about moving the motor homes out of the way so the fire department could get to the house. They looked at me with a surprised look and moved the motor homes away from the house.

A lot of people can not think any further ahead than the split second coming up.

The Democratic Party is going to have to start getting people in office at the county level get the elections won.

6. The trumpcult fifth column is getting into formation.

Get 25 other Republican legislatures to structurally nullify their populations' votes and you've got a "constitutional" dictatorship.

The Marc Elias team can't fight this alone in the courts across states.

So please call the most likely Republicans to help pass S 1 IN THE SENATE, WHICH CAN STOP THIS POPULAR VOTE NULLIFICATION DEAD.

7. Words like eye-popping, staggering, jaw-dropping are nowhere near strong enough.

They lack the power to truly convey the enormity of what is happening. That the Republicans are so far along the road is almost a story in itself, and also lacks proper adjectives. Alarming? Not even close.

They haven't even needed to burn the Reichstag. At least, as yet.
