I got the first shot yesterday and was very sleepy last night. I expected to sleep like a log, but had strange dreams all night. Not nightmares, just very vivid and sometimes weird ones. Some were about mundane things, the type of dream that when you wake up, you dont know if it was real or not.
The dreams kept waking me up. Id fall back to sleep after a few minutes, so I do feel good and well-rested today.
Did anyone else have this? I cant tell if it was from the vaccine or maybe because the weather changed? Its very warm and windy outside today, after being gloomy yesterday.

MARIA SIMBRA: After immunization, or with a COVID infection, or just during the pandemic, in general, Dr. Shade says his patients have commented on bizarre dreams.
DANIEL SHADE: Along with a lot of [AUDIO OUT] is that it really affects your sleep-wake cycle.
MARIA SIMBRA: He doesn't have a precise explanation, but guesses it has something to do with poor sleep from the anticipation of side effects.
DANIEL SHADE: They're expecting to experience fever, muscle pain, headache, and they're probably not sleeping well. And the most common reason that we remember dreams is that our sleep is disrupted.
MARIA SIMBRA: Whether the immune response is reacting with brain cells, it's too soon to say.
DANIEL SHADE: But we're going to look back on the data years from now and say, you know what? These dreams weren't just PTSD. There was actually a physiologic cause for it.
MARIA SIMBRA: If a booster dose is needed in the future, the intense dreams won't stop Richard.
RICHARD VETSTEIN: Ventilator versus feeling a little bad, a bad dream? I'm sorry, but I'll take that trade off.
MARIA SIMBRA: Severe illness with COVID would be the bigger nightmare. I'm Dr. Maria Simbra. KDKA News.

(4,604 posts)When Id wake up, it was like I was some weird place between sleeping and waking, like I was still in the dream, even though I knew I was awake. Not quite hallucinations, but something close to that. Awake dreaming??
It was strange and hard to explain properly. Ive never experienced anything like it.

(12,904 posts)So, its hard to call it dreaming. More like, I was seeing things (faces, landscapes, weird scenes) when I tried to close my eyes for a bit. I have heard a term...lucid dreams. I dont know if thats what it was or not, though.
Strangest thing that ever happened to me.

(8,052 posts)pain from my upper arm injection site shooting up my neck and the side of my head. Fever down today, but can't raise my arm very far. I don't normally have vaccine reactions, except for some normal soreness after tetanus, so this was a completely new experience for me. But no dreams that I recall.

(4,604 posts)My boss and her husband both had the really, really sore arm, neck pain, and headache, but it only lasted a day. Hopefully you will be feeling better by this evening.

(8,052 posts)to have gotten the appointment because I thought I would have to wait longer into April. But yeah, I wasn't anticipating the reaction because I don't normally have an issue with vaccines. I'm already doing better today. My husband didn't have that much of a reaction to his first shot, but was pretty sick for a couple days with his second one. I deliberately didn't take anything for symptoms, because I didn't want to dampen the inflammation response. It's an interesting experience.

(4,604 posts)Its interesting to me how everyone is affected differently by the vaccines. My mother got short-tempered and downright mean (according to her) for 3-4 days after the first Pfizer. Then, it suddenly went away, like a cloud lifting, and she realized how mean she had been to my Dad, lol! He just got very sleepy for a few days.
Im a little nervous about the second one, but grateful to be in line to get it.

(8,052 posts)barely had a reaction at all to their first Pfizer, neither of them--they're still waiting for their second.

(11,448 posts)After 3 hours pain in arm started like last time, got real bad so i took Tylenol at 11pm. Finally slept for only a hour from 1-2am then bad muscle aches all night and chills, don't know what fever was felt too bad to get up. Took more Tylenol at 6, felt better for a few hours then fever started going up and up until almost 102, took more Tylenol at 12 and used cool wash cloths.
A bunch of my cousins were sick for 3 days with second so I mentally prepared myself as much as you can. One of those cousins is a nurse and she messaged me also with advice.
Fever went down again to 99.5 and I am hoping it doesn't go high again. Doctors office called me to encourage me to hang in there.
My husband had zero effects both shots, same with my older mom and daughters who both got pfizer only got arm pain.
I don't want to scare anyone, I made it and glad I am done! Just listening to bookclub book on audible. Just sent hubby to store to buy juice popsicles.
And I have never had a reaction either from vaccines except once in awhile sore arm. I think it's because two in a row.

(8,052 posts)days, he's had a lot of vaccines in life (anthrax via the Air Force was the worst up until now) and hasn't had a reaction that bad until this one. So I'm going to brace myself better for the next round.

(4,604 posts)I was on methadone maintenance. It was so nice to dream again when I was finally off of it.
They came roaring back, just like you said, and it was intense.
Last night was just weird.

(10,885 posts)I usually don't remember my dreams when I wake, but these have been so clear and so vivid that they stay with me. Like you, not nightmares, but strange events in strange settings. My sleep has been very deep, and I wake in the same position as when I first curled up.
It's interesting to learn others are experiencing this.
