Some of these products I dont know but please spend the word. Coca Cola needs to push back on this voter suppression bill and we need to not spend our money on their products until they pressure the Georgia repukes to repeal this bill.

(43,229 posts)The reason the Montgomery Bus Boycott famously worked was because it was a localized entity that was front and center of the activity that was subject of the boycott. There was a logical nexus between that and the cause for the boycott.
Boycotts of entire states or large multinational corporations that have little to do with the reason for the boycott other than being centered in a state typically are far too broad a target to gain much traction.
Sorry.

(66,527 posts)After obesity and family history, drinking soda is the biggest risk factor for diabetes. I can't count how many patients I've had in eleven years of practice who come in with blood sugar through the roof, and hemoglobin A1C (the diagnostic test for diabetes) too high to be measured in the lab, and they're drinking soda like it's going out of style.
I tell them to stop with the soda, and three months later, their diabetes is coming under control quite nicely.
Also, never, ever buy bottled water of any kind. Fancy water, smart water, vitamin water, it's all just marketing to get you to buy what you can get better out of the faucet. It also generates billions of tons of plastic waste, which obviously we don't need more of.

(8,063 posts)what about gin & tonic?
Aristus
(66,527 posts)That's why I only drink a few days a week.
I've had patients who drink six or seven sodas a day, and can't understand why they feel fatigued, dizzy, short of breath, and generally run-down.
Marketing has a lot to do with it. Gatorade and Powerade, for example, are marketed as health drinks, and they're not; they're terrible for you. People drink a lot of the stuff just based on its perceived health benefits. No one pretends alcohol is good for you.

(65,401 posts)...was a root beer float, probably 2 years ago.
Neither of us are pop drinkers.
I've used lemon-lime soda as a way to add sweetness to cooking. But, one of those airline size bottles will make two dishes.
And, since they came out, I drink the zero beers. They're only around 400ppm alcohol by volume, or less than 1% of a normal beer.
I think they taste quite good now that they use a triple stage process to minimize alcohol content.
For those who like beer, but don't want the buzz, I highly recommend them. At least 3 brands. It's all I've tried.

(65,401 posts)We've always got a little heavy cream because I like it for cooking. Adds so much body & richness to my sauce experiments.

(6,617 posts)...Coke Zero (no sugar), Sprite Zero (no sugar), Diet Mountain Dew (no sugar), & Diet A&W Root Beer (no sugar).
I didn't give up soda, I gave up sugar, in as many forms as possible. When I switched to low-carb low-sugar foods (& made sure I was getting enough protein every day) I finally lost the 45 lbs I had struggled to lose for years, & it didn't even feel like dieting. I ate as much as I wanted to & the pounds just came off over the course of a year.

(66,527 posts)can also be harmful, leading to changes in colonic flora, fat-storage capability, and so on.
Researchers have found few benefits of non-nutritive sweeteners other than reduction of tooth decay due to decrease in sugar consumption. The adverse effects of chemical sweeteners are not all fully understood, but the general medical consensus is to avoid them, or consume minimal amounts.

(20,631 posts)purchasing at Aldi recently. I just took a look at the packaging to confirm that it was under their umbrella. Good stuff, but I can find comparable products from their competitors.
