OLBERMANN VS. APARTHEID GEORGIA: Baseball must lead the boycott and move its Atlanta All-Star Game

.

Boycotting Delta Airlines and Coca-Cola and other Georgia-based companies comes later. But the first step to protest Georgia's 21st Century Jim Crow voting laws must be taken in sports, specifically by baseball.

Its annual All-Star Game is scheduled for Atlanta on July 13. But more pressingly, on April 15, the sport will conduct its annual self-congratulation for integrating the major leagues in only their 77th season. It's Jackie Robinson Day - but if the owners will not respond to Georgia's racism by moving the game elsewhere, the players must boycott the Robinson celebrations. Celebrating integration while a state acts to disenfranchise its residents of color is obviously hypocritical and humiliating, but it's worse: Jackie Robinson was BORN in Georgia. He would find nothing to celebrate today, or in July, or on April 15.

and suspiciously elected Gov. There are much better ways to deal with those who are actually responsible for what is happening than to keep attacking the state.... Georgia helped us win the White House and saved the Senate.

I'm not going to argue the point - so if you agree with Oberman - go for it. I dont.

A black Congress woman was arrested and literally dragged out of the building when she knocked on the locked door as Kemp and his 6 white hooded accomplices signed a bill to deny blacks a free and fair way to vote. They did this in front of a portrait of a PLANTATION. The message was clear.

I am pretty sure the black voters would agree that the league should wash their hands of Georgia.

Why not college students that attend universities in GA, why not transfer to out of state colleges?

Why not all professional and amateur student athletes refuse to play in any event in GA?

Why not the entertainment industry refusing to do any business in GA?

Why not the general population refusing to travel, visit, or spend any money that benefits GA?

Why not other states that believe in Democracy refuse or terminate (future) contracts with GA?

Yes GA is a problem, but the reality is the GOP - they should be associated with the KKK, the confederacy and anti-democratic policies. The nation is breaking up, and regardless of what Biden does, if the trends continue, we are looking at Syria here within the states.
