VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police confirm there are two people dead and numerous others injured after multiple shootings — one of which was officer-involved — at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Friday night.

Police Chief Paul Neudigate said the preliminary count for the number of people shot is 10: One was killed by police, another died from other gunfire, and eight were injured. [snip]

A second person who wasn’t part of the officer-involved shooting — and believed not to be a part of the original shooting incident either — was also shot and killed.

The chief also said an officer was struck by a car and taken to a hospital during the department’s response at the Oceanfront. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

“What you can see is we have a very chaotic incident, a very chaotic night in the Beach,” Neudigate said. “Many different crime scenes.” [more]

3. Aw hell..we are supposed to stay two nights in the residential

end next weekend. We were doing a socially distanced trip to VA BCH(about an hour away) next weekend to celebrate our second shot and my hubby’s birthday. We planned to enjoy the balcony and to walk and get our food. It is still chilly in Virginia Beach so we did not expect much of a beach crowd. We noticed in recent years that it was kinda scary at night so we rarely went out. Guess I will see what my hubby wants to do. We would lose almost $200 if we cancel now. However, we could potentially lose our life if we go. Well, I guess that could happen anywhere but they are on the spotlight now. Crazy world we are living in now. Prayers for the 8 that were injured and the family of the two that died.
