(57,083 posts)... Zesting them is tricky because of the thin skins, but I like them.
So here you go ...
One cup of water
Two cups of sugar
(make a simple syrup from the above)
Four Tbsp of zest
Heavy 1/4 lemon juice.
1-3/4 Cups of 100proof Vodka
I double and triple up and use one-gallon mayo jars.
Some people use food coloring, but I am against it. I love the clear, clean yellow straw color.
Aging and an occasional shake for six months, filter through layers of muslin, bottle and let age another year or two, filter again and decant. The two-year-old bottles I have are very nice.
I also do cranberry liquor using fresh cranberries after Thanksgiving or Christmas. A batch uses one bag of cranberries that have been processed to rough mash. Some people add a couple of tbsp of Grapefruit zest. I know this: one year I added cinnamon, and it made it taste lie Robitussin DM. My wife said it was my imagination. But all I tasted was the worst drug experience of my life. And that was over fifty years ago. It's a very pretty red with no coloring needed. I might add orange zest next time.

(16,733 posts)what did you add to the mash? And a "heavy 1/4" what on the lime juice?

(83,763 posts)No bottles or cans. No recycling except for the CO2 cylinders and that makes it environmentally safe. I find it refreshing. You can make 60 liters on one cylinder. The initial price of a cylinder is $30. You return it and get the new one for 15.

I recycle glass in my electric cement mixer and make glass pebbles with some river sand from our creek. It makes for colorful paths. Could also be used to make concrete/glass counter tops.

(57,083 posts)... glass is important - wine bottles and beer bottles work good, as well as sheet glass more than 1/4" thick.
I also get "sand" from small pieces of glass and thin glass.

(16,733 posts)They used to put cocaine (coca) in Coca Cola. No wonder have a "Coke and a Smile". I think they removed the cocaine in the 1920's? I read an article about how common it was for narcotics (opium, heroin, cocaine) to be in over-the-counter and later prescription meds. They said chances are your grandparents were addicts if they took that stuff. Many said to refill when you get down to a certain line on the glass bottle. After a few bottles you were probably pretty hooked. I recall having several as a lad in the early 60's for stomach issues (powdered opium and paragorik (sp?). Probably what they are using today in colas is some sort of synthetic relative? It is a thing though.

(103 posts)I just called Delta and told them I will not be flying on their airline due to the voter suppression laws just enacted. The (live) voice on the other end said they appreciated hearing from me. I don't drink Coke, but they'll be hearing from me shortly.

(29,322 posts)A similar thing happened when North Carolina had their bathroom bills. The NBA boycotted the state with their All-Star game.
Voter suppression is a bigger thing because if it is widely successful I can see our Democracy ending within 10 years.

(1,879 posts)Those events disappearing are immediate bad press and cash flow that get attention.
Coca Cola is a worldwide American brand that has been in Georgia forever, knows this hurts the state and opposed these bills as much as folks here insist they aren't doing enough. They've also given money to Biden, Warnock and Ossoff. It's short sighted.
Guys like Kemp and his hood wearing buddies aren't concerned about them losing a few bucks for their bullshit. They're laughing about it.
