https://www.thedailybeast.com/meghan-mccain-says-criticism-of-marjorie-taylor-greene-is-how-we-got-trumpAfter fellow co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar both said Greene is the Republican Party now and the Republican Party is the MAGA Partynoting that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has remained silent on herMcCain retorted that this type of commentary will ultimately backfire.
I think the more that the mainstream media continues to come out and say that all Republicans are birthers and crazy people and we believe in space lasers, then the more it makes traditional Republicansand theres still a lot of them in the countrygo back into their corners, she declared. And this is becoming very tribal, and I would argue that this is how we got Trump in the first place and that theres just no nuance in it.
Republicans are refusing to separate from Marjorie Taylor Greene, but it's somehow wrong for the Democrats to lump Marjorie Taylor Greene and the Republicans together?

So, what Meghan McCain is saying that... After they voted Trump not out of policy but just to spite Hillary Clinton, we must be extra careful with the feelings of republican voters or else they will vote Greene not out of policy but just to spite the Democrats.
"Well, I used to dislike Greene, but after the Democrats called us out for refusing to cut ties with that fascist, I will have no choice but to vote for that fascist."
That's the problem with Republicans nowadays: They no longer have free will. If the Democrats dislike something, then they automatically MUST like it.

JESSE KELLY: They will break down, they are breaking down, Tucker. I have said this before, and I'm telling you I'm worried that I'm right, the right is going to pick a fascist within 10 to 20 years --
CARLSON: Right. That's right.
KELLY: -- Because they're not going to be the only one -- the only ones on the outs.
There's 60, 70 million of us. We're not a tiny minority, and if we're going to be all treated like criminals and all subject to every single law, while antifa Black Lives Matter guys go free and Hunter Biden goes free, then the right's going to take drastic measures.
...
CARLSON: That's so well put and you're absolutely right. We are moving toward actual extremism because they're undermining the system that kept extremism at bay. I don't think we can say that enough. I'm so glad that you just said it. Jesse Kelly, thank you.
"Oh No! We Republicans are going fascist because of the political incompetence of Democrats and there is no way for us Republicans to possibly stop ourselves from doing that!"

(58,785 posts)then the McCains endorse and elect their choices. Who's worse? The crazies who've become disconnected from right and wrong or those who still know what it is enough to engage in this protective hypocrisy?

(745 posts)They started feeding the 'oh no election fraud' lines months ahead of the election, so that by the time the election took place it was easy to say election fraud and have millions of people immediately buy it.
This looks like more of the same. Why would R pundits start saying this on their networks that Ds don't actually tune into? Not to warn Ds to behave 'nicer' - we really don't care what these pundits say. So if it's not that then why?
To normalize the idea that they will have more crazies in leadership positions - when the next election the presidential, the VP candidates are all fringe lunatics - they will have by then for years been saying this stuff - oh well it's the Ds fault and now we have no choice but to elect them since they made it through the primaries because of those bad divisive Ds.
So out loud they are saying - oh noes so much bad tribalism, Ds need to cut back on it. But what they are REALLY doing is basically trying to normalize it even more than they already have so far.

(1,910 posts)Not sure what demographics they are looking at or what swing state trends or anything. The more they embrace the radical right, the less popular votes they get, the further away they get from ever winning the Presidency again.
Once again they learn the opposite lesson than they should.

(13,548 posts)seen a lot of GQP BS. Trying to blame the opposition on their march to autocracy and fascism. Why? So they can feel better about themselves not trying to stop it, to blame it on somebody else, I suppose.

It's bad enough they are tweaked out meth heads at this point, but that the media and the "middle third" of this country indulges this victimology is our greatest danger.

Always blaming the motivations for their bad behavior on someone, or something, other than themselves. Some form of "The devil made me do it" is their go to justification for their actions when they get caught in some malfeasance.

(36,053 posts)Nice bullshit mountain they got going -- all this sanctification of white grievance -- the rules! the rules! -- and criminalizing of black activism -- as if justice for blacks is injustice for whites.
"Look what you made us do! Look out, America! Make us "political prisoners" and we're gonna double down on you!"
No one hears antifa and BLM snowflaky complaints about rules or "those people."
They exert defense only against death dealers of law enforcement and corporate control.
Tucker Carlson's lie to the courts about how the audience knows his "lies as kidding" should be challenged. His audience should be polled on how they understand him.
He claims he's TV's Mr. "I take no responsibility." "It's not my fault the audience takes seriously my fake seriousness." But he needs to be made to testify before the FCC or court over that.
All the while he knows he stirs a toxic soup that feeds into more insurrection. He presents a fomenter of the psyop of the "aggrieved abuser" -- "Look what you're gonna make me do!" Meaning 'us fascists.'

(8,287 posts)Im serious. That is some hyper backflips Meghan is doing.
I hope that this is the beginning of the end for McCain and the GQP. She is the biggest hypocrite of them all.
Her husband and his red hat conservatism is turning her thought processes inside out. She needs to step down and raise that (poor) daughter of hers and let the rest of her party have their come to Jesus moment. Shut her down. Just like Piers Morgan, Sharon Osborne and Jeffrey Toubin. Shame on ABC/Disney for continuing to let her spew that skewed reality to the masses.
