They were discussing the Big Lie and how Trump tried to spin it on FOX News. They were talking about how Mick Mulvaney and Ron Johnson and others were trying to spin the attack on January 6th.
Tim Miller pointed out, I think correctly, that they had to minimize and spin the attack on our Capitol or they would have no political future. They have to make their supporters believe that it was no big deal. They were invited in by the cops for hugs and kisses. There were very few that participated in any violence. Trump supporters have to believe that it never really happened.
They really only have to persuade their base. That is all they need to control the Republican Party.

(16,864 posts)The GOP survives because they tell their followers what they want to hear. That's what Fox News and their politicians and the whole RW bandwagon do. They're watching a real-life movie, and the suspension of disbelief never ends. That's why they like Trump so much, P.T. Barnum on steroids. He shows them the pickled punks and the fat lady and the geeks and they enjoy the show that never ends. Rubes at the circus, throwing their peanut shells on the ground.

So long as he is permitted to be a legitimate player in politics, our nation will suffer.
