Fire DeJoy - My United States Post Office Experience Today.....

I normally hold all my out going mail until I close my office for the day. I hold for last minute letters and packages I have to send. I stop by the Post Office after work and transact my business with them then.

Today I got to my Post Office at 4:35pm (normal closing time is 5:30pm).

Today I found my Post Office closed at 4:35pm. In fact the sign on the door indicated new M-F hours ending at 3:30pm instead.

Pissed and having to get a package out today - I went over to a neighboring suburb Post Office. This one was closed at 2:30pm. Again new hours - indicating being short staffed.

What is going on with this. DeJoy is out to destroy the USPS and this has got to stop.

President Biden needs to get this guy fired and out of this job. I know that the only way he can achieve that is to replace (I believe - Board Members) that have the ability to remove DeJoy from his position.

This needs to be done fast.

I know I've heard of all kinds of horror stories from around the country re: USPS. So I know this is not something that is effecting me. I'm sure other small businesses deal with USPS much the same way I do.

We need to complain and complain really loud. This can't be what we'll have to deal with going forward.

I know that Bernie Sanders was a strong advocate to save the USPS. We need him to get more vocal as well.

as background, I live just past the city limits of a large city and even closer to a small, Mayberry-like city. I generally use the post office in Mayberry-ville.

Their lobby is always open (their counter is beyond the lobby). I can go in at 6 am or 8 pm and use the machine in the lobby to buy postage for the package I’m sending and drop it in the big opening and move on with my life.

Maybe it’s just Mayberry-ville that has the post office lobby open really early and really late, even on a Sunday?

... if your Post Office has a front lobby (that's open after hours) and a Self-Service Kiosk. I just used one today to mail a package via Priority Mail. The self-service machine allows you to pay by credit/debit card, and you can enter all the necessary info and ship the package immediately. I was able to get a tracking number and everything, my package is already en route tonight.

The key factor is whether the package fits into the big barrel that accepts boxes and large items. If it doesn't fit in there, it's no-go. Most likely has to go to the UPS store, and they're open till at least 6 p.m. Our Fedex stores in Pittsburgh are open even later - I think 10 or 11 p.m. Yes they do cost more, however the packages are handled efficiently - much better than USPS.

and mail is slow outgoing. There were also personnel shortages due to covid, and lots of ads for postal employees in the help wanted.

When there are too few personnel, they shift those able to run a post office between 2 or 3 offices a few hours a day.

I do agree in getting rid of the PMG, but I have found one thing I do agree with.... reducing the districts from like 80 to 50 and they are actually boundary appropriately. The former districts didn't make any sense and looked like a jig saw puzzle. Now the new districts are mostly inline with their representive states. Other than that, reducing hours, man-power and extending longer mailable timelines is all wrong what the Service in USPS stands for.

It is apparent that Dejoy is only for his and his upper rich class. USPS has been in a long overdue overhaul!

where postal managers and employees who favor Trump's views have been known to approve of and even amplify his decrees. I do not say they are abundant in number but they do have effect and I have a heard a few of them speak so, locally. It is sad to say the least.

I suspect we need to have either his arrest on charges, or a massive lawsuit by astate AG or other authority to defeat his actions.

It's a crime that Trump was somehow able to destroy the USPS, His power unlimited really.

Yet here we are with a clean sweep in Washington, yet our hands our tried to do anything at all to fix USPS.

its unfair.
