(4,873 posts)or maybe worse. I moved since I last filed taxes, so they mailed it to my old address. I filed a change of address when I moved, but when I talked to the Post Office, they said that stimulus mail will not be forwarded. So when it arrives at my old address, it will be returned to IRS as undeliverable.
Went to the IRS site to change my address and they asked for a credit card to verify my address. My credit card shows my new address. Because it's not the same as my old IRS address, they locked me out. Catch 22.
Today, I mailed in a change of address. I figure it will take months to straighten things out. If they had just done direct deposit, everything would have been fine.

(4,873 posts)I think the problem is that they are mailing out checks/cash cards to a lot of people instead of direct deposit. Not sure if they are doing it to folks who did file, folks who didn't file, or both.
And, they outsourced the task to a private company, instead of handling internally. Screwed it up.

(251 posts)Both of the first two were direct deposited, just like my monthly disability check, but Ive received nothing for the third. I have not filed taxes in the six years since going on disability but today I went on H&R Block and completed their free tax forms. Zero balance but theyre filed. Now I will wait and see.

(51,584 posts)Then I got a letter from the IRS saying more $ was sent and should arrive by Feb 25 and when I called the phone number I was always cut off. Finally last week I spoke with a real IRS person (waited 1 1/2 hours and she told me it was sent Jan 6th (day of DC riots). They will put a trace on the check and send a packet of forms to fill out in 4 weeks. Well, 3 days after that call I got a card (like a Visa card) in the mail on Sat. I asked DU what the Hell this card was since the IRS lady said I was issued a check like the first payment. DU was great and tons of people verified that this card was not a scam and was legit, so use it ($600).
Maybe yours was lost/delayed in the mail too.

(4,986 posts)I received the $1200 via check that was forwarded to me, because I had moved.
As of now, I have not received the $600 nor the $1400. And I get "Payment Status Unavailable" when checking the IRS. There is no reason I shouldn't have gotten it all via direct deposit because I am a senior who receives SS payments via direct deposit.
I expect that the only way I will get the $600 and the $1400 is via credits on my tax filing for this year. I usually do my own taxes, but I will have to rely on a tax preparer, as I don't know how to claim it.
