“The Republican-run Kentucky legislature on Monday easily overrode Gov. Andy Beshear’s (D) veto of a notable bill that restricts his ability to fill any vacancies that arise if one of the state’s U.S. senators dies or leaves office early,” the Louisville Courier Journal reports.

4. If it encourages McConnell to retire early? Perhaps it is a wash.

How soon until a special election can be held to let voters decide? I assume the unelected partisan hack placeholder for the Senate seat is not allowed to just finish the term if over a certain period of months/years.

The intolerant asshole the Senate picks might be the best chance the Democrats have to win a KY Senate seat with a sane Democrat.

look at him. He's blue!

The swelling in his hands, the extreme bruising, what appears to be a port. He's not long for this world, and he can't be assured Beshear won't outlast him.

I can't believe it's constitutional, per their state constitution.

6. Exactly. Get Mitch out now. Have the GOP put some asshole in defying the State constitution.

Ridicule the hell out of the unelected intolerant partisan hack and run a sane Democrat against the entire corrupt GOP system that placed the asshole there in the first place.

Hopefully a good Kentucky lawyer can challenge this law in KY court of it does violate their constitution. Or at least delay implementation of it until Moscow Mitch shuttles of this mortal coil.

State Constitution. Can the legislature change the constitution by a simple majority, or do they have a super majority in both houses?

Seriously, a state that Overwhelming elects Turtle & Rand Paul, and voted for Drumpf by a wide margin.

They figure, and rightly so, that the only way a Democratic Senator could take office, would be if appointed by the Governor.

Think they can't do even worse than Turtle or Paul? Guess again.

This has to be fought against - it's the final stage of the fascist takeover of our government and the end of democracy.

The Republican Legislature?

What if it is someone the entire Party does not agree with? It sounds like they are opening a can of worms to me?

I would doubt that the Legislature would pick someone that would be accepted unanimously, especially if someone else has ideas of running in the next election?
