(18,745 posts)Trump's court packing was overstated.
Did he name a ton of judges in his first term? Yes, a lot for a 1 term president. But know that Obama had 2 terms and named 320 judges to Trump's 226.
49% of all Federal judges right now were named by Obama or Clinton
20% were named by George Bush
28% were named by Trump
2% Reagan/HW Bush
And you had a ton of judges (even some Republicans) who held out because they didn't want Trump to name their replacement. There is pent up vacancies that will occur. Joe should be able to name a couple hundred judges during his first term and the Federal judiciary will most certainly be about 60-40 in favor of being named by a Dem by 2025.
The SCOTUS is another matter, Mitch stole control of the SCOTUS by robbing Obama of a justice and then ramming through RGB's replacement. Fixing that is a bigger task.

(18,745 posts)After this first round of replacements, over 50% of Federal judges will have been named by Clinton, Obama, or Biden.
Mitch was so desperate to ram so many through under Trump because he knew the Federal judgeships will have a Dem slant for a generation if he didn't.
If Joe wins a second term, the courts will be liberal for 30 years.
