House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy appeared to downplay the allegations of child sex trafficking and an illicit sexual relationship with an underaged teenage girl against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) on Wednesday, refusing to remove him from the Judiciary Committee which has oversight authority of the Dept. of Justice.

McCarthy, the top House Republican, said he would strip Gaetz of his committee assignments only if the allegations prove to be true, which could mean only after a jury trial. Gaetz is possibly facing several serious federal felony charges and his position on Judiciary poses a deep conflict of interest.

"Look I haven't heard from DOJ, I haven't been able to talk to Matt Gaetz yet, I just read the story," McCarthy told Fox News more than 12 hours after the story broke.

"Those are serious implications, if it comes out to be true yes we would remove him" from his committees, McCarthy said, "if that was the case."

3. On an accusation? This headline is more than a stretch

McCarthy is an idiot. That is generally agreed on by everyone. He isn’t going to remove someone from a committee based on simply an investigation. Also he was reluctant, he just made a fool of himself missing that if this is true Gaetz will be in jail so committees would be the least of his concern.

Is McCarthy in on the underage girls, too?

This is the party of "Family Values?" This is the party that's going to save America? This is the party of personal responsibility and fiscal restraint? (I'm going to say paying for sex is never the financially conservative way to go.)

This is the party who demanded churches be open during a pandemic because faith is so very essential.

Oh, there's a cabal of wealthy, powerful men running a sex trafficking ring for under age girls, all right. Boys, too, Gym Jordan... They're in the Republican Party. Birds of a feather prey on adolescents together.
