Gaetz’s lone “No” vote was worse than you think. The bill was the Combatting Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act. Parts of it regulated driver licenses to prevent trafficking.

His pal Greenberg is charged with falsifying a driver license to facilitate trafficking.

One provision directed a new committee to “develop recommended best practices for State and local transportation stakeholders to follow in combating human trafficking,” which involved updating technology and collection of documents from State agencies that issue driver licenses.

The issuance of driver licenses is a State power, so the federal government cannot directly regulate driver licenses in most instances. The goal was to develop best practices for State transportation agencies to prevent trafficking, then submit them to States.

Gaetz voted No.

Here are photos of the legislation, which established a Department of Transportation Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking. Gaetz said the feds shouldn’t be involved in State issues. Other “States’ rights” conservatives didn’t see a problem.

Most problematic (IMO) is that Greenberg is alleged by prosecutors to have committed a human trafficking offense using a falsified driver license between May-November 2017.

Gaetz’s No vote? December 2017.

The former Seminole County Tax Collector used his access as an elected official to look up information about the minor victim in The Florida Driver and Vehicle Information Database known as “DAVID,” including the girl’s photo and driver identification number, according to the indictment.

He also used the database to look up other people, with whom he “was engaged with ‘sugar daddy’ relationships,” according to the document. A sugar daddy is a term that refers to a wealthy man who dates a younger woman and gives her gifts in exchange for companionship or sex.

Greenberg used the DAVID database for prohibited purposes, including “to produce a false identification document and to facilitate his efforts to engage in commercial sex acts,” the documents say.

As far back as Nov. 11, 2015 — about a year before he was elected in November 2016 — Greenberg created a fake driver’s license using the name, date of birth and address of an adult victim identified in court records only as R.Z, prosecutors said. He gleaned those details from the Florida Department of Highway Safety’s website, according to the new indictment filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg.

His lone no vote was a signal to Greenberg to protect them both. They knew damn well what they were doing. Greenberg makes fake IDs for underage girls, they get coerced into a sugar baby scheme, using their fake ID so if they get caught they can say she was of age. Girl he sex traffics winds up spilling the beans. FBI taking their time because there's probably a lot more guys involved.
