https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/mar/31/police-officers-sue-donald-trump-injuries-capitol-riotTwo US Capitol Police officers have filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump, accusing him of inciting the deadly 6 January insurrection and saying he was responsible for physical and emotional injuries they suffered as a result.
James Blassingame, a 17-year veteran of the force, and Sidney Hemby, an 11-year veteran, filed the lawsuit on Tuesday in US district court for the District of Columbia seeking damages of at least $75,000 each.
This is a complaint for damages by US Capitol Police officers for physical and emotional injuries caused by the defendant Donald Trumps wrongful conduct inciting a riot on January 6, 2021, by his followers trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, the lawsuit said.
Trump has denied responsibility for the rioting, which left five people dead, including a police officer. His office did not immediately return a call for comment on the lawsuit.

DUH...I'm embarrassed that I reacted to "face value" without thinking deeper. But that's why I hang here--my comrades are real thinkers and offer a variety of angles on any issue.
Thanks!

(4,435 posts)He is being sued for MORE than $75k.
That simply means it is not intended to be a small claim- it is intended to be a large claim that will be able to access certain courts and claims procedures. A Jury can award whatever they determine is the correct award- whether that amount is $75k or $75 million.

(302 posts)Very important questions will be asked to him under oath. This can be used against him in a criminal case. The Don wont be able to shut his pie hole and could put himself in legal jeopardy.
This IS a big deal.

(8,727 posts)Romney putting Trump in the crosshairs of blame. And McTurtle after the failed impeachment. He specifically said Trump can face prosecution after he is out of office, in a then useless, but fiery speech. All evidence for those cops case.
