If I understood Christopher Martin's testimony today, he took issue with the alleged counterfeit 20 dollar bill due at least in part due to the store's policy on counterfeit money. It seems kinda messed up. "We're going to take any counterfeit bills you accept out of your pay, but we're not going to even offer in training in how to spot them."
I haven't worked cashier positions when I've worked retail. Is that typical? It strikes me as very unfair for what is quite often a minimum wage/low paying entry level job.

(29,194 posts)any shortage in your drawer at the end of your shift... you can be responsible for it.
Even in banks and casinos... where the amount in the shortage can mount into hundreds of dollars.

(16,994 posts)Where is does happen is to waitstaff who run their own bank. At the end of the shift you turn in the money you collected for sales. Whats left is yours. If you make a mistake counting change will cost you.

He would have been 18 at the time?
And what a burden to carry with him the rest of his life.

(53,743 posts)The boss that told him to do that is a poor boss. He should just tell his employees not to accept bills if they have any doubts as going after someone can result in someone getting hurt.

(18,497 posts)They can't be that costly.
Not rely on teenagers to spot fake bills and take it out of their meager pay if they miss one.
Especially if we are killing men who did not even realize they had a fake twenty.
