(8,178 posts)Thought the Daily Mail was considered trash, like on the level of the Enquirer?
As in a David Pecker type of "journalism"

(28,706 posts)This just repeats what he claims was being used to extort him. He mentioned the document in that first interview

(6,477 posts)That both Gaetz and the DM mention this does not constitute anything like confirmation. For all I know, the clowns at the DM simply concocted this article for clicks based on what Gaetz said in the interview.

(39,167 posts)Sure, Matt, sure. All extortionists send hard-copy plans, printed from a deskjet, with mission titles like "Operation Homecoming".

(23,631 posts)Gaetz himself released this information -- his story is that the men trying to extort him were the ones claiming that the FBI had pictures of him in an orgy.
That doesn't mean that this ISN'T simply spin by a flailing imbecile who has been caught with his pants down and is now trying to cover his ass -- the FBI investigation and photos may actually exist -- but the sensational headline doesn't really represent the facts of the story.

(8,251 posts)himself gave. He mentioned that " people are saying there are pics" in his bizarre interview with Tucker.
Whether they exist or not, we do not know. But this information was obtained from his " evidence of extortion"
As it has been said by legal experts, both things can be true.
Gaetz is guilty of sex trafficking - and someone may have very well been trying to extort him. (Although whether this is extortion - by definition of the law is questionable)
Two very separate issues. What we should not get caught up in is him wanting us to focus on the extortion. That's a separate issue.
He knows that its hard for people to hold 2 thoughts in their head.

(16,447 posts)..."In January 2020, state Rep. Chris Latvala accused Gaetz of having created a game during his time in Tallahassee that gave out points for sleeping with aides, interns, lobbyists, and married legislators. The allegation echoed a Miami Herald story in 2015 that reported that such a game was played by younger state representatives. Gaetz denied involvement in any such game."

(52,345 posts)One of the first things the good buddies in our office would do when home office came down to visit, was to take the men down to OBT where they would get them drunk and treat them to lapdances. It was an attempt to soften them up, but also provided blackmail opportunities. If you include the men who worked in our office, very few men were really good family people.
So, here we are forty years later. Will these idiots never learn? This is what Florida is all about. The most reckless advance because they're promoted by the very people who can blackmail them.
And who is the other elected official? Maitland. Hmmm... Wish it was a city attorney.

That said, I know The Daily Mail is a rag, but I'm inclined to believe some of the story is likely to turn out to be true. Whatever the truth is, being it involves Matt Gaetz, it is probably really raunchy and sleezey. It is still hard to believe this fool got reelected.

(24,395 posts)Gaetzs relentless flattery and gift for political performance put him high on Trumps buddy listwhich allows him to play a surprisingly complicated game. I view the Trump presidency not as a condition to be managed, but as an opportunity to be seized, he said.
