(3,037 posts)Those zingers and such long hours slaving away on social media. I read through all of her tweets today. Did you know that BOTH PARTIES got in her way of fixing the boarder infrastructure last year? She is a real populist. I am sure she alone could fix it if it wasnt for the Democratic Party and Republicans

(3,037 posts)Heres what I found from Slate:
Its messy. In theory, each agency is responsible for handling different elements of immigration enforcement, which is overseen by the Department of Homeland Security. CBP is supposed to focus on enforcement at the border, while ICE is supposed to focus on enforcing immigration laws in the interior of the country. However, in practice, those lines get blurred, especially when agencies resources and facilities are pushed to their capacities, as they are now because of the Trump administrations zero-tolerance policy.

(15,377 posts)Second, I don't get this about cages. Am I wrong in my thinking? Yes, there are cages, and they were built to handle holding people crossing the border illegally until a decision was made about what to do. If Obama had built anything else, they would have accused him of "coddling criminals." It is overwhelmed right now, and the workers are doing what they can to relieve that, but people aren't denying them food, water, hygiene supplies, and not ripping apart families. That was the problem - not cages, or am I missing something?

(25,380 posts)because I don't get it either. Families aren't ripped apart, they're inside, safe, with food and water after walking for months. The phone numbers that some children have with relatives in the States are called within 24 hours.
It's been two months.

have decreased significantly in the past decade."
The peak was in 2007. Much more at the link.
