Where Republican voters are right now

Their most newsworthy congress-critters are gun-humping whackjobs who believe in Jewish Space Lasers and support overthrowing the government – and who are occasionally supplanted in the headlines by alleged pedophiles/sex traffickers and other assorted and sundry corrupt scum within their party’s ranks.

Their elected officials are telling them that what they’ve seen with their own eyes on January 6th never really happened, and anything they’ve heard with their own ears is fake news.

Their so-called representatives who voted against Biden’s rescue package are taking credit for its positive results – because We hope you’re enjoying the benefits we didn’t want you to have shows a real commitment to their constituents’ welfare.

Their insurrectionist heroes – those brave patriots prepared to fight-to-the-death against an illegitimate President Biden and his party – are pleading with judges to let them go home to mommy and daddy because, among other things, jail food really sucks.

Their crack legal beagle, Sydney Powell, is basing her legal defence on the idea that any ‘reasonable person’ would know that she’s a liar – i.e. people who took her seriously are de facto idiots.

Their “pResident” has been reduced to crashing weddings in order to make speeches about his stolen election, and how Biden is fucking-up the country. Apparently, the same speech is available to be delivered at Bar Mitzvahs, anniversaries, and funerals - for a small fee.

And last, but certainly not least, their entire party is still following the directives of the Former Guy – the one whose political genius cost them the House, the Senate and the presidency, and is now about to become a professional, frequent-flier defendant in a growing list of lawsuits.

I’m not a political strategist, nor do I play one on the internetz. But it seems pretty obvious that anyone with enough common sense to come in out of the rain would see the GOP as the hypocritical, self-serving liars they are.

And yet Republican voters still wonder why we think they’re stupid - as they stand in the rain, wondering why they're getting wet.

The Republican Party has always and remains to be opposed to workers rights to fair wages and treatment. The Democrats were supposed to be the representatives of the working class. This is what won them the control of the Congress and presidency dating from FDR until relatively recent times. They were pro-union without any reservation, but in my opinion simply forgot what had brought them support and success.

It a fundamental fact that corporations are dedicated to one simple principle, maximizing profits to attract capital and maintain their position. It is without a shred of conscience and empathy for the workers. That is the function of unions that provided them with the impetus to provide the workers a fair shake. A conscience. I believe that we have to agree that the Republican Party did a masterful job in totally convincing workers that the unions were their enemy even to the point of gaining their support for laws such as the so called "Right to Work" legislation.

This was allowed to take place with little opposition from Democratic representatives who continued to assume they had the support of labor without any effort to actually support workers rights. Hopefully, Joe Biden who has a personal history of being from the lowly working class will be able to awaken the Democratic Party to who had taken them to the dance in the first place and then abandoned them.

Repub voting coalition is now one part Qanon quacks, one part racists, one part those who think they will be rich some day and don't want to pay taxes when that miracle happens, and one part who think they will go to heaven no matter who they vote for with an R next to their name....because, you know, R people are against evil abortion and those gay folks so its an auto trip to heaven if you vote for them.

And almost all of them vote against the best interests of themselves, their kids, and grand kids time after time because of one or more of the above reasons.

I had to tell Republicans in Vern Buchanan's (FL Dist 19) the same thing in different words yesterday on his Facebook thread, where he takes credit now for getting them money and jobs and environmental help. Linking sources while doing also helped harden up negative opinion about him on the thread.

When even corporations come around to supporting humans about civil rights, you know we're doing something right that's even in their best business interests.

"And yet Republican voters still wonder why we think they’re stupid - as they stand in the rain, wondering why they're getting wet."

There are those who are ignorant. They simply do not know; lack knowledge about something.
Example: One who does not know it is raining because of not looking out. Simple fix, check the weather.
Such a person is teachable. They can learn reality.

There are those who are stupid, that is to say, unwise. They know things but simply fail to see cause and effect.
Example: One reads that the weather forecast says 100% chance of rain but leaves home without an umbrella.
Such a person is educable. They can adjust to reality.

Then there are those who are ignoramuses, that is to say deliberately unreachable, refuse to acknowledge what is.
Example: Too many these days. Knowing it is going to rain, knowing they will get wet going out, but refusing to use an umbrella because internet friends said they don't work. They ignore reality.

If people are fed lies most of their life, how can they find the truth?
Basing their whole mental schema on bad data.

Then there's all the right wing influence on tertiary education.

--the GOP base still sticks with the party! I drive a Transit bus and overhear conversations between wingnuts all the time. They lament how Biden is "destroying America" and how "evil" the Democrats are. They still hope for a triumphal return of Trump when "all the voter fraud is brought to light". All the GOP corruption, voter suppression, cruelty and stupidity means nothing to them. They truly live in an alternative reality. I just shake my head listening to the Trumptards babble. Of course all they listen to is Fox, OAN and Newsmax so they never hear what is really going on. They live in a bubble world. But I often think that surely they hear about the scandals and such. I just they dismiss it as "fake news".

for supporting repubics is the underlying code language of "we'll keep the coloreds in their place."
"I'll tell you what's at the bottom of it," he said. "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
