Gee, ya think? Why should he? That goes both ways.
Republicans don't think Biden really wants to work with them
By Alexander Bolton and Morgan Chalfant - 04/02/21 06:00 AM EDT
Republicans on Capitol Hill say President Bidens infrastructure proposal is the clearest sign yet that the White House has no intention of working with them on big legislation.
The $2.25 trillion plan unveiled this week by Biden takes direct aim at former President Trumps signature economic achievement by raising the corporate tax rate that Republicans lowered in their 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Its pretty clear the way it is being crafted is far-left and goes after the marquis item that we passed on taxes, said a Senate Republican aide.
Bidens proposal fundamentally takes the approach that government and government spending is the answer, and we strongly disagree with that, the aide said.
Every single Republican who was in the Senate in 2017 voted for Trumps tax plan, including the GOP lawmakers who are viewed as potentially working with Biden on infrastructure: Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.) and Jerry Moran (Kan.).
Senate Republican aides say its highly unlikely that any GOP senators will vote for Bidens plan, noting that even a key moderate like Collins is allied with the partys core position of favoring lower taxes.

(54,302 posts)Biden has made it clear that he is willing to entertain ideas that make sense and will have a positive effect.
Sure, if youre only going to say that Jesus told you to complain about George Soros, you might as well save your breath. But if you have something serious to propose, Im sure Biden and his people will listen.

Republicans just want to protect their special interest donors and their phony baloney jobs.

(50,237 posts)They are the ones who came out and said "no" before the ink was dry on the idea. They claim to love infrastructure, but somehow think it will come out of the sky on a flaming pie and won't have to be paid for. They think the most financially successful among us shouldn't have to pay, but Grandma working a job to supplement her Social Security should be a good target for tax hikes to pay for it. I'm so sick of these people. And I'm sick of fucking Manchin for insisting things must include Republicans or he's not going to vote for what Democrats want.
