Murder in plain sight

I just can't watch Chauvin's trial. That video tells the whole story, -- a nonchalant cop, hands in pockets, kneeling on the neck of a human being named George Floyd until he's dead. It was a horrendous video of a murder, pure and simple. Context and extenuating circumstances aren't even a factor here. To any sane, halfway reasonable human being, it was a public fucking execution.

Anyone but a cop would take any plea he could get. But this murdering prick knows that all he needs is one white supremacist, or one moron on the jury, and he walks away free.

I'm sick of having to share this planet with self-proclaimed "patriots," "cop lovers," flag wavers, god freaks who want to make all the rules, and so many other types of wingnut fanatics, -- including virtually every Republican.

I have no impartiality about this trial, so I never would have made it onto the jury. But no truly impartial juror can watch that video and not understand what they were seeing. If Chauvin is found "not guilty," I fear for the riots that will follow, along with the inevitable deaths that will occur. I really want to see this nonchalant murderer stick his hands into his pockets, look indifferent, and walk into a cell where he'll spend the rest of his life.

I remember I posted here after 1st seeing the video on the news that it would cause ptsd in some viewers ... it did me, I’ve seen death portrayed many times, but that was an execution, murder in plain sight 😕
I’ve never watched again, nor gotten over it

People are getting tired of the violence and the killings.

Chauvin will be convicted.

And the person died, that lay person would have been arrested at the scene. There would have been a plea and no murder trial.

to hunt for a black guy. That's sure is what it seems. I've been looking at this from the perspective of having been a cop back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and it's just horrifying. I think you can size up someone in an encounter almost immediately and tell whether they are apt to be violent and nuts or just need to be cajoled and coaxed. George Floyd was obviously someone who could have been cajoled. Just my opinion, but it seems the older homicide cop who just testified was thinking the same thing.

It does not result in an acquittal. If the jury hangs he will be retried, not “walk away free.”

Really? Resisting in the back seat of a squad car?
The door Chauvin pull him out of, was already closed.
The door where George Floyd entered could easily close.

What resisting could he do from the back seat of the car?

I'm definitely wouldn't buy that explanation.

narrative makes me a bit skeptical. I'm not saying they did know each other, but pulling him back out of the car makes it seem oddly personal.

I really wanted to see how this goes down so watched almost every minute the first day and a half - it was sooo brutal. By the 2nd day, I was walking out of the room a lot because I just couldn't take it - not one more second of that defense lawyers lies, not one more minute of hearing/seeing someone get brutally murdered by a sadistic cop who enjoyed it. I turned off the tv, but did watch some of the supervisor part yesterday afternoon after I got home from surgery. Taking a break today so far, many phone calls from friends and to dr. office/hospital and a friend came over to bring lunch and help me for awhile.

I want to see this, see how the prosecution rebuts the defense lies and gives the jury the best chance to make the right decision. Who knows if there's a ringer in there, a well disguised white nationalist for example, who cares zero for the truth and up for his city and wants the riots that him throwing the case will cause because he thinks that will help his cause? If something like that has happened, there's indeed nothing that can be done other than a retrial. I am praying these are regular people who will know murder and lies when they see them. The defense claiming the cops were scared by the crowd is pure BS, there were 4-5 grown ass men with guns and 12 people, including at least 3 children so 9 adults with no threats or physical confrontations at all is pure lunacy - but he is pushing this hard. I am still hopeful for a good outcome, which means Chauvin in jail for murder but do sadly understand that history is against us.

opiates and meth in his blood system and my guess is that the defense will use this as a reason for why he died, hoping for a lesser conviction than murder.

Witnesses ...Yes...Full 9 minutes?...Yes...Some bystanders told Chauvin to let him go...Yes....Floyd clearly said, "I can't breath"....Yes............More?...Yes...

....Guilty?...YES!!......Chauvin thinks he will get away with it?....Yes..

.Will Chauvin get away with it...NO!!! Chauvin will go to jail..

One comment from a lawyer that I saw either at CNN or here at DU, that the prosecution has destroyed Chauvin's defense case. I don't know..but I do think that in other times...maybe 25 years ago...Chauvin
would go free....These times are different...and those days are over
.......Video cameras tell the story more than defendants .....There is video of Chauvin on Floyd's neck...Is that correct?...Full 9 minutes?? Yes....That video testifies the truth more than Chauvin or anyone else..
