Reports are saying he just lost his job, was depressed, had hunger issues and was looking for spiritual guidance.

(1,777 posts)It could even be called fascist, I think.
Would you say "suicide by cop" if the guy was white and belonged to a predominantly white far-RW organization? I saw that possibility being dismissed here just a few hours ago, before his identity was known.

(53,777 posts)if it was a winger. The guy lost his job, had hunger issues, was depressed, apparently deranged...I mean who rams a police checkpoint then gets out and makes himself vulnerable to gun fire without one himself?
IMO it certainly wasn't a terrorist attack which you seem to be inferring.

(1,777 posts)And so does David Duke, who loves it, and the feeling is mutual. Racial essentialism, racial mythology, racial superiority, cult of personality, exterminationist antisemitiism, it's got it all. Note that I'm very much distinguishing between Farrakhan's organization, the one that currently calls itself the Nation of Islam, and the mainstream Islamic organization shaped by Wallace Muhammad which grew out of the old Nation of Islam.
But -- I think it's quite likely that this guy was mostly motivated by mental issues. It's just that, as I said, the possibility was being roundly dismissed here when the assumption was that he was a Trumper, albeit presumably not by you.
