Spare a thought for his family
Good new per Joy Reid = the other officer is now in a non-life threatening condition.

(6,099 posts)For 18 years. A career officer. This man did not deserve this tragic end to his life. He was a member of the First Responders Unit. Please remember this mans family and friends for his senseless death.

(9,353 posts)Tough job, outside in the Cold, the Hot, the Rain, the Snow, lightning, insurrection, exposed to elements, crazy people etc. Officer Sicknick was a member of the FRU also.

(20,200 posts)I hope there's a GoFundMe page for his family.
This guy got up and went to work this morning, probably thinking about spending the weekend with his family. Now........... this shit has to stop.

(78 posts)a significant, well established and statistically proven, White-Supremacists-And-Nazis-Sympathizers-in-the-Police-and-Military-and-GOP problem
comprising about half the electorate
as well as at least half -- and probably the majority -- of Police and Military
and the knee-jerk reaction of immediate hero-worship of Cops and Military who are KIA is part of the problem
because they don't "Put Their Lives On The Line Every Day!"
that's just part of the fascist narrative
Cops and Military don't even make the Top 10 List of most dangerous occupations ... a far greater percentage of people are killed on Deadliest Catch ... and there's no naive/mawkish/unwarranted hero worship there
to wit, the Cop killed in the Boulder mass shooting was a Catholic/religious nut bag with 7 (i.e., 5 too many) kids, and was a 2nd Amendment freak who owned AR15s, who quit his high-tech job with Avaya 10 years ago to join the Force because he thought he had a "higher calling" from Imaginary Jebus
so before we choke up with the usual "thoughts and prayers" for dead cops -- and the family members groomed in their image -- it would be wise to find out first if they are one of these ... cuz odds are they are ...
