Frank Figliuzzi on Matt Gaetz: "If he's smart, and there's little evidence that he is..."

MSNBC: Matt Gaetz just keeps incriminating himself

Almost immediately after the story broke, Gaetz tried to publicly rebut the claim by denying the allegation while simultaneously offering varying versions of a convoluted conspiracy against him. In the process of defending himself, Gaetz appears to have exposed a pending FBI extortion investigation.

Gaetz may be telling the truth; then again, he may be lying — or perhaps it’s a combination of both. Either way, he’s in deep trouble.

And either way, Gaetz has handed FBI agents and prosecutors plenty of questions to follow up on when they sit him down and ask him to explain his several contradictory statements. If he’s smart, and there’s little evidence that he is, he’ll invoke his right to remain silent — which he should have done before granting interviews to the press.

I've said this before: Matt Gaetz is NOT a Florida Congressman! His district is way up in the northwest corner of our state in an area that looks like it was stolen from Alabama to get more beachfront property, and it's not even in the same time zone! Our politics are bad enough without having to own him.

They will almost certainly elect another Moron in his place. Why not? This repub turned out so well, might as well continue the trend.

Pleasant and non-judgmental.

I happen to live in NW Florida, and to me it sounds like you called me a moron. You might want to tone things down a bit.

Just saying.

Which caught my eye because a guy who has a Libertarian site, Karl Denninger,
is in Niceville, and he claims he started the Tea Party way back when.

How is this FBI investigation supposed to make Gaetz look any less guilty of sexual misconduct?

I'm from Pennsylvania and we had Rick Santorum shoved down our throats for I don't know how many years. It seemed like forever. Nobody from PA can stand him - now or then.

You're stuck with Gaetz whether you like it or not. You have my sympathy but we're not letting you off that easy.

Is our representative but probably not much longer.

Would you believe tonight on the news the head of the local Republican Party is still standing behind their man? After the little weasel is indicted, I hope they go back and interview that guy again. And after he is convicted and sent to the pokey for nice long visit behind bars. Wonder how many underaged girlfriends Mattie will find there??
