Georgia Republican politicians don't give a rat's ass if all sports teams and and major sports events boycott them. But here's one exception that will make these racist pricks pay attention.
The PGA should pull the Masters golf tournament out of the Augusta National Golf Club and out of the state of Georgia. It's the one sports-related action that would hit the front page of every newspaper in America in huge block letters.
But don't hold your breath for this to happen. Why won't it happen? I leave it to you to reach your own conclusion and/or voice your opinion.

(1,487 posts)The Masters is put on by Augusta National, until a few years ago, players had to have a black caddie. Augusta is about as republican & racist as it gets.

(24,899 posts)The Masters is owned by Augusta National Golf Club. They run the event at their course. Its the only Golf Major always played on the same course. It will never move.
Augusta National has plenty of equality issues to address.

(1,487 posts)Broadcasters pay very little to broadcast the tournament, compared to other tournaments. In 2003 & 4, there were no commercials, due to some of the sexist crap that came out of the chairman's piehole.

Way to fix this is to toss the repub a'holes, they can try, try, try to stop people from voting, it won't work, Kemp & friends are actually shooting themselves in the foot.

(24,899 posts)Incredibly, the Club tells CBS that they can only have a limited number of minutes of commercials, (I think it's 4 minutes per hour).
Augusta National would be able to hold the Masters without TV coverage. They don't care. These are phenomenally rich people who treasure their golf tournament. I assure you, professional golfers would play in the event even if it weren't televised.

Last year the tournament was played without attendees.

(24,899 posts)However, the Colonial isn't a Major in the golf calendar. There are four: The US Open, The Open Championship (British Open), The PGA Championship and the Masters. The first three play on different courses every year. The Masters is always played at Augusta.
The Players Championship is always played at the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Verde FL. In spite of many efforts, it's still not considered a Major.
That's all I meant.

Actually, isn't Delta involved in a war of words with Georgia's dipshit governor?
