Political crisis facing Ted Cruz on full display during Final Four basketball game

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has been shunned as a pariah in Texas after he fled the state during a disaster to vacation in Cancun, Mexico. On Saturday, he attempted to repair he relationship with voters by cheering on both the Houston Cougars and Baylor Bears as the two Texas teams faced off in the Final Four.

Cruz posted a photo to Twitter showing him wearing both a Baylor shirt and a Houston hat -- although he was drinking a beer from Massachusetts, instead of a beloved Texas brew like Shiner.
Ted Cruz: “Getting ready for tip-off, with conflicted loyalties: I’m a lifelong Houstonian, but I’ve got a nephew & niece at Baylor. Well, I represent the entire State of Texas, and either way Texas wins!”

However, comments revealed how toxic Cruz has become, saying:

“what if cancun had a team in this game who would you root for then?”

“Cruz drinking a beer brewed in Boston, Massachusetts instead of Texas speaks volumes of his "Texas" pride.”

“We lose everyday as Texans with our Senate Representation”

Ted can pretty much do what he wants, since he's there for another 3 1/2 years. And your other Senator isn't up for re-election until 2026.

Joe Biden lost by a margin that was not even remotely close, despite all the talk about how TX might go blue. Thankfully Team Biden knew it was hopeless, and didn't invest any real time and money on a lost cause.

I guess we'll see what happens to Abbott next year, but I'm not holding my breath that anything will change in terms of TX being a reliable red state. Like Florida, it's become a nice little fantasy for us Democrats, but still a hail mary pass.
