This is a somewhat trivial observation, so if that bothers you, don't read more.

I saw a good photo of Matt Gaetz and noticed some things that caused me to blow up the photo and closely examine his hair. I believe that Gaetz is significantly bald and that his pompadour is a hairpiece.

If you blow up a picture that clearly shows his hair, you should see a couple of things. First, you should see two very distinct hair textures the side hair and the pompadour. I am considerably older than him and have pretty much all of my hair. If you look at my hair, the texture is the same all over my head (I can feel the texture all over my head). Second, if you look at the hair on the side of his head, which typically is the last hair to start balding, you should notice that his side hair has clear flecks of grey and his temple hair on both sides is close to all grey. The pompadour doesn’t have a single grey hair, that I could discern in a good closeup photo of his head.

Why does this matters to me? I have always viewed people that try to hide an unimportant natural blemish with suspicion - I have been the type that believes that we should work with what nature gives us. Serious balding is natural for most men, there are some exceptions. All of us lose hair as we get older and that hair doesn’t come back, the lifelong hair loss starts as soon as we have gotten a full head of baby hair.

On the large scale, Gaetz hiding balding is secondary to what he is, a total asshole. But him apparently (to me, at least) making a clownish effort to hide his baldness, I believe, is a visible indicator of the type of mindset that causes him to be a total asshole.

and my skin is also still youthful. Maybe that has produced a type of arrogance where I don’t fully understand people that have to deal with issues that I haven’t. But Gaetz is just such a totally unrecoverable prick (second only to Trump), so he makes an inviting target.

That’s where the station trades advertising for something of value other than cash. It might be food and drink, a station car, office supplies, or virtually anything else. It’s supposed to benefit the station as a whole.

I knew an owner who traded out his toupee. I asked him once if I could use it on Tuesdays and Fridays. He wasn’t amused.

A lot of real women would be turned off by someone with such complicated hair. It would certainly redefine, "bed hair". Easier for the rich to buy someone who would pretend not to notice, won't expect you to stay the night, or spend much time together.

I'm not sure how hairpieces work in the dating world, but they would seem to make it harder to relate on a deeply honest level.

It is about honesty. I would want a woman to see the person, physically and otherwise, that she will see in intimate settings, otherwise the whole effort of pursuing her is pointless.

He was an accountant, a friend of a friend. Guess you'd call him an 'acquaintance'.

Anyway, he thought his clients would trust him more if he weren't balding.
So he wore a toupee, but you could always see a thin line of skin where it didn't quite reach his real hairline.

Maybe he was too cheap (frugal ?) to buy a good one.

I saw him a few times when he wasn't wearing it and thought he looked fine, even better.

I would have been concerned about, given that he is an accounted. Honestly, I believe that I would have serious doubts about a guy that didn’t take the effort to match the hairpiece to his hair, I would much rather deal with a balding person, or much, much, much further down the line, a trained monkey.

It was too narrow for the top of his head, so it sort of looked like roadkill. Plus the color - brown - didn't match the sides. Whenever I looked at him, my eyes were totally on the hairpiece. He was married, so I guess some women do adapt to it. It would bother me a lot.

I think any sort of 'aid' or enhancement is perfectly all right. Some of it is definitely not for me. Some of it is distinctly off-putting to my tastes. Is there a psychological component in almost all of it? Sure -- but the same can be said for a snazzy pair of shoes, or a new 'do' with highlights. (or a tattoo saying Mom, or Trixie) Somebody else is trying to live in that skin and inhabit that character. Let them work it out as they see fit.
