Pete Buttigieg Speaks Slowly And Explains To Republicans That Humans Need Water To Live

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg explained to Republicans who oppose money for pipes in the infrastructure bill that humans need water to live.

Sec. Buttigieg said on ABC’s This Week:

Let’s be clear. There’s a lot more than roads and bridges that are part of infrastructure. I heard the governor of South Dakota recently saying this isn’t infrastructure. It’s got money for pipes. We believe that pipes are infrastructure because you need water to live, and too many families now live with the threat of lead poisoning.

That’s absolutely infrastructure, you know, you talk about roads and bridges, but also airports and ports. We need to make sure that we have broadband. I know that traditionally the internet wasn’t considered infrastructure because in the Eisenhower years, of course, it didn’t exist, but infrastructure investment has to include looking to the future. Railroads seemed futuristic, and then we actually built them. Now they’re considered traditional infrastructure. You could say the same about highways, and I’ve got a lot of respect for senator blunt, but I’m going to work to try to persuade him that electrical charging infrastructure is absolutely a core part of how Americans are going to need to get around in the future, and not the distant, far-off future, but right now.

There are places in this country at any given moment of the day that don’t have water due to problems with pipes. Flint wasn’t an isolated incident as far as lead poisoning is concerned due to dangerous water pipes.

The state and condition of America’s infrastructure is a disgrace.

I feel most of the "Public Utilities" have become nothing more than Quasi Gov't Organizations, being truly run by For Profit corporations.
Look no further than Texas. The same can be said across the nation. Xcel energy is worth a study of corporate greed the past 20 years.
They all have one thing in common, maximize profits......sound familiar????? Xcel just slapped their Colorado Customers with a six hundred dollar "surcharge" for that deep freeze that hit the south and Texas. Even though, it was just normal weather for us here in Colorado.

I certainly don't want our tax money going to these so called Public Utilities to pay for all of them to repair and play catch up with their deferred maintenance on their grids.

Not when they have been neglecting maintenance and postponing repairs and replacements to maximize their profits and reward their executives with huge bonuses..............And all the time getting rate increases while they were doing it............

There is a ton of infrastructure that needs work. I'm all for it getting federal funds. However, I am not for rewarding states that have cut their taxes to amounts that those states can no longer pay to do maintenance and repairs, and then rely on Federal money.
We already send more federal money to states that receive far more federal money than they send to the Federal Government.
(for fun, google states that receive more money than they send) Southern and Red states in particular..........

In reality, the Republican States, Republican Governors and corporations should be ecstatic with the Dems proposed funding...............

We can show red state citizens how they have suffered under such control.

Control of water and energy must be taken over by the federal government because both are a major national security issue, never to be trusted under corporate and red state control.

South Dakota governor says there will NO masks or social distancing when Donald Trump visits Mount Rushmore

South Dakota's governor gave Trump a miniature Mount Rushmore featuring his face

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/01/22/south-dakota-gov-noem-gave-trump-mini-mount-rushmore-his-face/6669700002/

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she gave former president Donald Trump a $1,100 bust depicting the president on Mount Rushmore last year because she knew it was something he wanted to receive.

The gift was presented to Trump when he visited South Dakota on July 3 for an Independence Day fireworks celebration.

The Mount Rushmore miniature stood 4 feet (1.3 meters) and depicted Trump enshrined alongside former presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

'I believe in our freedoms': the governor who resists lockdown and stresses American liberty

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/21/south-dakota-covid-19-coronavirus-freedom

Kristi Noem has been denounced for refusing to impose a stay-at-home order, even after her state saw a large flare-up of Covid-19 cases when the virus struck hundreds of people working at a slaughterhouse in Sioux Falls.

Noem is an unabashed supporter of the president, and her stated commitment not to let the coronavirus pandemic intrude on American liberties coincided with Donald Trump’s Twitter attacks on other governors for maintaining lockdowns, and the orchestrated streets protests dotted around the country.

by the company she keeps. Inviting 300-400 thousand to a super spreader event called Sturgis in the middle of the pandemic, then sending them all back home across the entire nation. Far worse than Typhoid Mary.............

300-400 Thousand, unmasked in crowded bars and streets for an entire week. What could possibly go wrong???????

If she likes shooting military weapons, let's give her one and ship her to Afghanistan......Same with all the Trump Humpers, dressing in military garb and toting military weapons........

Pipes, water, internet access ... are "traditional" infrastructure which includes a damn laundry list of shit.

These people seemed so unprepared to do their jobs, we can find middle schoolers to give more relevant questions.

George has got all those resources around him to proffer thoughtful questions that only a person can answer (vs just being able to look the answer up on the internets) and he throws out a twisted premise that is a waste of time.
