In the wake of the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, a perusal of Republican websites and postings showed that several Republican leaders seemed to not only know the attack was coming, but to have actively participated in encouraging the insurgents. That includes not just Donald Trump’s months-long effort to subvert the outcome of the election and enlist white supremacists to the cause of overturning democracy—it also involves both local and national Republican politicians who collaborated with those who smashed through the doors of the House and Senate.

Of those in Congress who encouraged this attack, Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert stands out. In part, that’s because of Boebert’s “This is 1776!” tweet on the morning of the assault and her running string of tweets from inside the House chamber, updating insurgents on the movements of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But it’s also because she was one member of Congress who several Democratic members accused of providing tours to large groups of pro-Trump protesters on Jan. 5. Those tours were described by some as “reconnaissance,” with Boebert giving insurgents inside information on routes through the Capitol. On Jan. 6, some of those invading the building were clearly following detailed plans that allowed them to find multiple routes to the Senate and House chambers.

However, despite investigations by both Congress and the FBI, there’s been little subsequent news about Boebert’s insurgency tours. And as the Capitol Police release thousands of hours of surveillance video of the events on Jan. 6, there are also disturbing hints that the evidence against Boebert may have simply been allowed to disappear.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Lauren Boebert got away with something. As The Denver Post reported last August, Boebert had been arrested at least four times in the last decade. In three cases out of four, charges were either never filed or dropped—including a case in which Boebert repeatedly harassed and threatened her neighbors. Boebert was also allowed to skate away after twice failing to show up for court hearings.

1. Lots of speculation and little actual information.

I'll wait for something a little more concrete than a few leaps of logic with no basis in anything tangible.

There is nothing in the article that supports the headline. The insinuation that the Capitol Police wouldn't have been able to decide whether or not something was important in 30 days is laughable.

like a lot of people, I'm extremely interested in real documentation of what went on with the 'tours.' But it looks like we're going to have to wait longer -- because this amounts to nothing. Wasting our time.

5. A lot of Parler data was scraped off from Jan 6th and maybe before.

A lot of the post that ended up in the citizen search groups were from this data set.
Text, Photos, and videos were researched and posted. Most of these had gps location tagging too.

I thought that an important thing would be to look from posts to parler from the days leading up to Jan 6th because if these people were getting a guided tour, I would think that they would be taking selfies for tour photos/ vids.

I hope the security data was not erased which would show a serious amount of insider collusion.

6. This is BS Speculation and Not Worth Serious Consideration Given the Lack of Any Real Evidence

Until someone says that no such video evidence exists of Republicans conducting such tours we need to wait and not speculate.

These jokers wouldn't be smart enough to turn their cell phones off.

Multiple congress people saw the tours.

The FBI is at the what have you got to tell us stage now.

We know it happened.

I don't know. And more to the point -- neither does the author. But it sure sounds racy!

14. look we pretty much know for sure that there were tours

they were witnessed and reported by other people on Capital Hill. The issue here is a headline suggesting that Capital police have erased or otherwise made video of these events 'disappear.' Given the casualties, fatalities, demoralizing failure of assignment and mission suffered here -- I find it utterly confounding that anyone would think this a likely response on the part of Capital Police. If anything -- you would think there would be determination to see that anyone even marginally involved -- go DOWN. Painfully, and publicly.

I'm sorry, but I just think the original premise given in the headline -- is completely unlikely -- and actually quite stupid.
