Turner has outpaced Brown in fundraising so far. The last thing we need in Congress is another opponent to Bidens agenda. She has referred to Bidens plan as half a shit sandwich.

(94,495 posts)On the heels of the Democratic and Republican national conventions, the Movement for a Peoples Party (MPP) speakers blasted this duopoly for its long bipartisan allegiance to corporate power, oligarchy, and militarism. Speaker after speaker skewered the Democratic Party and its nominee for decades of adherence to corporate and Wall Street interests, military spending increases and war, and its refusal to support Medicare for All, even amid a deadly pandemic.

(25,456 posts)It's all about meanie "corporate Democrats" (the establishment status quo) who "take money from Wall Street and corporate PACS" and use the money to stop progressive legislation, followed by plaintive requests for three grassroots dollars. I can't figure out what they think they're going to "transform" the Democratic Party into.
Demsrule86
(68,543 posts)betsuni
(25,456 posts)for them when the party finally has some power and everything's coming up progressive. If they were right, the Biden administration would continue the economic policies of Republicans. No need to "transform" a party that's already progressive. Harder to fool anybody when you're so spectacularly wrong about everything.

(7,278 posts)Their only goal is to destroy the Democratic Party. Full. Stop.
They are as bad as Mitch McConnell, Lindsey G., Ted Cruz et al.
And to some degree it could be argued, they are worse. and Nina Turner leads that pac of traitorous Lunatics.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least to learn she was in some way involved in supporting Jan 6th Insurrection.
In any event, she may as well be a sympathizer.
She's not a Democrat. She is a 3rd Party Charlatan. And she's proud of it.
Demsrule86
(68,543 posts)in 2016 to a Democrat? Nina is not a Democrat and she is poison. She gets my vote in an election. But I am hoping Ohio rejects her...they did at least once before. I live in Ohio and will work for anyone who has shot against her in the primary. She said Republicans were welcome in her 'new' party but Democrats had to prove themselves. I truly despise Nina Turner and she has a new party you know...only running as a Democrat out of convenience. We can't even be sure she would caucus with us.

(15,325 posts)I have yet to hear or see anything as to how it will be rolled out to address the 300 million ppl in the US, how much the cost nor actual policy in writing. How it would affect the enormous variables that fit under the umbrella of healthcare, from provider to patient.
The words Medicare for All must also come with a long & well thought out plan & after 5 yrs, there simply hasn't been one provided.
What is the comparison to President Biden's expanded Affordable Care Act?
I have no idea what M4A means exactly.
At least not enough to give up my current health care.
Ya can't just have a popular slogan without providing, at some point, the convincing details.
roody
(10,849 posts)There isn't enough there to honestly compare a side by side with Biden's ACA.
Sorry, hers is just way to broad & with scant details necessary to just say OK.
No, I mean a line by line policy plan that speaks to the 300 million American citizens.
Like the ACA that Obama had in place before it was even debated in congress.
5 years later, they should be better prepared by now to sell M4A.
LetMyPeopleVote
(145,113 posts)ismnotwasm
(41,975 posts)That is not addressed in Jayapals bill. Shes my rep.
When the ACA was moving forward there was a huge concern in nursing leadership about enough nurses and providers. We are already short. Im on the staffing committee at my hospital as well as an active part of our union. Nursing plans to inspire more nursing to get their NP, which is good.
We need healthcare workers of all, kinds, especially in rural areas. We need space to work in. We need equipment. We need our healthcare workers to be paid a decent wage. We need a realistic phase in for M4A, which has never been offered. Realistic being the operative word.
In other words, using healthcare as a political football with less than useable legislation is bullshit.

He is a registered Independent so he won't register as a Democrat to vote for Nina Turner in the primary. He probably won't vote for the other candidate if she is on the ballot for the general election.
Before this primary Nina Turner was an Ohio State Senator.

Those ESTABLISHMENT Democrats sure are useful when ya need them.
What happened to her People's Party?
What happened with her DC Lobbying job she claimed to be taking awhile back?
She's got 4 National PACS supporting her now, so I guess those bragging rights of being the biggest funding in this OH-11 race are not so grassroots as the other candidates, afterall.

(29,322 posts)Ever since December most of the People's Party has been focusing their attention on attacking AOC. They also seem to be trying to depress future turnout by suggesting changing the Democratic Party from within is hopeless.
I haven't seen Nina Turner associate with the People's Party since she announced she was running as a Democrat in the primary. I did see the People's Party endorsed her when she announced but it isn't like they had a choice since they aren't putting up their own candidates.
Demsrule86
(68,543 posts)Nina Turner district. And your friend is not a Democrat but an independent. I have worked with Democrats here for years...some will stay home if she is the candidate...a GOP could squeak by in a low turnout election. Also, most know she is not a Democrat but is using the party. Marcia Fudge was a strong Democrat and well liked. Nina Turner will hopefully lose the primary. I would of course vote for her in ga eneral but never never in a primary. I can't stand her.

(29,322 posts)I know she has donations from all 50 states but she is doing especially well in the state of Ohio.
I'm not sure on the not a Democrat stuff. I think she was an Ohio State Senator as a Democrat. If you mean The People's Party they are not affiliated with each other anymore and they hate The Squad at this point.
This was a hot topic for them the last 2 days.
Podcaster receives police visit over alleged AOC threat but there's more to the story
A podcaster said he was "harassed" by two police officers at his home in California and accused of threatening Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., on Twitter -- a claim he calls outrageous and provably false.
The Twitter user, who goes by @queeralamode, is demanding answers from police and the congresswoman on why he was tracked down at home on Thursday. He said the experience left him "shaken up" and "feel[ing] very unsafe in my home right now."
(Snip)
The Twitter user, @queeralamode, does not list a name on the profile but describes himself as a co-host of two podcasts. But the user posted a letter about the incident from his purported employer, Maffick LLC, that identified him as Ryan Wentz. (Twitter has labeled Maffick as Russia state-affiliated media).
(Snip)
The Capitol Police confirmed to Fox News that the Ocasio-Cortez did not flag any tweets from @queeralamode as threatening and police started this investigation as part of its regular effort to monitor threats.

And I'll be glad to find the local Democrats didn't need a single penny from me to elect someone who represents their values and goals.

(58,785 posts)There's something really, really screwed with that.
I don't doubt the passionate sincerity of people who believe they would be far better, more principled Democrats than Democrats could ever be, that they are The Only True "Progressives." But I wouldn't hire any of them to run a snack bar for fear they'd end up poisoning the customers and burning it down.
And they'd survey the ashes every bit as uber righteously as they did after the Republicans took over. Of course, they're still hoping that Republican destruction might create better opportunities for them than the Democratic Party's bowl of shit, as this person puts it.
