"SNIP.....

New York Times: “The deeply held spiritual convictions or counterfactual arguments may vary. But across white evangelical America, reasons not to get vaccinated have spread as quickly as the virus that public health officials are hoping to overcome through herd immunity.”

“The opposition is rooted in a mix of religious faith and a longstanding wariness of mainstream science, and it is fueled by broader cultural distrust of institutions and gravitation to online conspiracy theories. The sheer size of the community poses a major problem for the country’s ability to recover from a pandemic that has resulted in the deaths of half a million Americans. And evangelical ideas and instincts have a way of spreading, even internationally.”

are they following God? Are they afraid of alienating their flock? What about preserving life?

2. I just responded to someone who said her refusing to get vaccinated is the Christian thing to do.

She also said that since she's a Christian, she's not afraid to die.

My response:

The choice of the unvaccinated to remain that way, and the consequences for them, isn't the issue. It's that they can potentially infect and kill others. Perhaps you should consider wearing a badge that proclaims your possible infectious state, and your disdain for the vulnerable. Not a particularly Christian attitude, IMHO.

So far, crickets.........

around the country and sit close while singing and reciting. Yes spraying little bits of COVID all around the place

Focused on the end of times so makes sense in a way they don’t care about it that much

who think that prolonging the pandemic is somehow in their interests.

I don't think the evangelical rubes act on their own very often. They tend to function as puppets for more powerful interests.
