11. One of the hardest lesson for a lawyer to learn is when to not cross examine a witness.

Don't ask questions for which you are not going to get the answer you want and will only drive home the other side's point. Sometimes the best thing you can do is get a witness off the stand as quickly as possible. If you don't cross-examine a witness, the witness will be excused from the courtroom.

Once you learn how, it's amazing how easy it is to half stand and say "no questions."
