6. Like many authoritarian regimes, their focus is completely internal.

Survival of the regime, suppression of any internal dissent. The outside world's opinion doesn't matter except as a propaganda tool to make regime supporters feel the victimhood that justifies the strongman, or party.

The adventurism in their former Soviets, particularly Ukraine (but also Georgia), also serves a propaganda purpose. Revanchism, protecting of ethnic Russians being "oppressed" by west-looking states.

Russia has oil and gas, Europe is dependent on it. If Europe had the ability to cut Russia out of its Energy purchases 100%, there would be a different story very quickly.
