(21,859 posts)opened but they did, and I think this will bite every one of those republican dictators in the a&&, as it should. Interfering literally w/ a voters' right to vote, and attempt to dictate a very narrow avenue/path to vote is a affront to all of us, and is literally interfering w/ our rights as American citizens. I hope that the voters in Georgia and other places considering such restrictive voting measures throw the scumbags out, who are obviously so scared to run in any election in this Country, without some sort of guarantee that they'll win regardless. They will lie and moan and etc. about massive voter fraud, yet they can't provide one shred of evidence of such fraud. They claim that their legislation is being misunderstood by many, but I seriously doubt it, far more smarter people have looked at what the Georgia thugs did, and came out w/ these startling revelations of impediments for voters that these thugs put in place. We can read English too.

(21,859 posts)w/ these thugs. No wonder quite a few old time republicans have quit this party. It's no longer a national party, but a regional bigoted party.

(8,679 posts)In EVERY state that is trying to impose voting restrictions........Not just Georgia.......
We have a whole lot more voters than 70 million, and could really do a hurt dance on the Corporations who financially sponsored this whole night mare utilizing Citizens United.
With them loading the Supreme Court Justices, I doubt it would do any good to protest the Supreme Court's decision on Citizens United.

(63,221 posts)Despite the fact that I don't even really take good care of them. Travel bags, backpacks, fleeces, down jackets, rain wear, etc. Some of those items have held up for 15 to 20 years, so it's definitely worth the price instead of having to go out and replace the item 3 or 4 times in the same time span.

(4,225 posts)spending their money with Delta (on my shitlist) or Southwest, etc. There's enough consumers that are so fed up with the GOP's voter suppression, Gaetz scandals, trump grifting/fraud to make Coke, Patagonia, etc to make a stand. And besides, the trump folks are lacking funds due to their dear leader's theft.
Good on Patagonia. I no longer ski & surf, but I swim & walk & like to stay warm, so I will look to this company for my gear in the future.
And Delta, after your "hold my hood" statement with regards to Kemp's bill - you've associated your brand with racism in my mind.

(46,016 posts)I haven't heard they're doing good things about voting rights. I hope I've missed something.
I do want to go to Arizona when travel is more open. I'd like to go on Southwest. (I think I have enough miles to go for free, so that may not help them much.)

(9,880 posts)As someone who lives in a gerrymandered district that has no chance of electing a Democrat who would represent my views, my vote is suppressed. My House representative, Roger Williams, refuses to meet with citizens or hold Town Halls and has publicly stated that he represents only the Republicans in the district.
Business needs to support the nonpartisan drawing of districts that do not benefit either party.

(18,903 posts)Yes, they're a premium brand, but the quality is unmatched and they use ethically obtained/recycled materials in their down products. I stumbled upon their products years ago and will wear nothing else since. I used to like L.L. Bean products, but they turned out to be Trump supporters, so nothing from them ever again.
I put my money where my politics are. Always have, always will.

(86,061 posts)And at least half of it is composed of Patagonia products, because they are that good. Battle-tested in the winters of Montana at 7000ft years round, I will spend money on their products even at a little higher cost because they last. I have fewer items but what I have is worth every penny. And they were, as a corporate entity, an ally for the causes I was promoting as a lobbyist back in the day.
Hell, I still wear the pullover synthetic down sweater I got over ten years ago, wear it more than half the time I'm outdoors in the winter. The sleeves are getting worn, I think I'll see if I can replace it at a discount.
Patagonia, an ethical company worth patronizing.

(8,679 posts)when they were part of the great american?? iron works?????? started and run by Yvon Chouinard, then I think he broke the clothing line off and Patagonia was started?????? Maybe I am mistaken???????
Maybe some other old rock climber out there can help out, my memory isn't as good as it used to be......
You think you remember, I am sure I barely remember that. I know I read about it but that was before I was interacting with them.
I do have great memories of that ERA, I was 15 and had just started rock climbing. We would save our lunch money and buy Chouinard's lost arrow pitons. (Now I remember ,Chouinard's foundry was the Great Pacific Iron Works.) His Lost Arrow pitons, and angles cost 2.25 bucks, and they were massively superior to the European Stubai pitons, and the pins available at army surplus.
Chouinard, Royal Robins and a few others brought rock climbing to America...... I remember going to a slide show in the late 60's that Chouinard, and the top rock climbing guide in Europe put on in Denver at the Natural History Museum Auditorium....The other guy was Gaston Rebufatt' (sp?) After the slide show, they showed a film of Gaston basically soloing a 500' climb on some pinnacle in Europe. It was mind boggling.
Those were the days.............
