Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) issued an Administrative Order directing the Citys Chief Equity Officer to implement a series of actions to diminish what her office called new voting restrictions imposed by the new Georgia voting law, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Her office stated these actions will ensure every Atlanta resident can exercise their right to vote.
The order will enact efforts to develop a plan within the citys authority to expand opportunity and access to the ballot box.

And other states.

(22,214 posts)remember, there were unused machines in one part of the city and not enough in the black section; that was where all the folks were waiting in line in the rain until 10 pm .
Here we can vote anywhere on Election Day so if you walk into a crowded precinct you can go to a nearby one that is less crowded. There are maybe 10 places to vote on Election Day within 10 minutes of our house depending on the election; one within walking distance. Everybody loves this.
We still have precincts which tend to have heavier turnout than others, and precincts with very low numbers, so we distribute equipment accordingly. I expect at some point to see low turnout precincts which are close together to be combined at the best location of the three. We have had combined precinctswith maybe 2 or 3 in one location for as long as I have lived here.
We even have wait times for each precinct on the Election Office web page, and if you hit a big line, the election team can find out the wait times in the area.
I believe about 55 of our counties do this - all the big city ones and others out in the state. I know we hear a lot about 300 voting locations closed in Texas I suspect most of them are in these counties and are due to precincts being combined into one location.
