He can afford to pay A LOT more than 750-dollars in taxes.

Maybe $750 PER DAY for maybe a year. That might help him get caught up in what he really owes the U.S. Treasury - somewhat, anyway.

What his taxes are, and ends up paying zero most years. We instead, get ours figured and pay them, happy that maybe we get a partial refund on what we had deducted.

...I was not as impressed with President Obama as I am with President Biden. I know that part of it is because of expectations - overly high for BHO, in the time in which he was in office, and, clearly, much too low for JRB.

He was the best VP BHO could have asked for, and, as such, didn't make a huge splash in that office...as is proper. The USA and the world had no idea what they were getting into, because the beginning of his administration has been, for now, at least, on track to be one of the very few, truly great Presidents.

when he started that there was little time for any thing else. Even with a Dem Congress, he was limited in what he could accomplish after the Dem Senate lost its 60 vote lead within months of Obama's inauguration. In 2010, Dems lost the House. Rs pushed obstruction as soon as the Dem 60 vote lead in the Senate ended.

Obama accomplished a lot, given the Congress he had to deal with. After 2010, there was the Tea Part faction to contend with. In today's polarized atmosphere, which was strong even then, it is necessary to have both houses of Congress to get anything done.

Passing the ACA in that climate was little short of a miracle. I just found his demeanour and speech to be on the conciliatory side for what I'd hoped would be a fiery progressive.

And don't get me wrong, I still admire him greatly, but I've actually been almost shocked that President Biden has this much fight in him. As I tried to convey, *some* more accomplishment can seem like less when your expectations are high, and vice versa.

further escalation of polarization. This is a position that leaders often take in times of crucial divisions. It's what Lincoln tried to do prior to the Civil War and Lincoln was one of Obama's most admired leaders. Obama was more successful at it than Lincoln, since violent insurrection did not happen until 4 years after Obama was out of office.

There were times when I wished that Obama had spoken and acted more boldly. But I also realized that he was sitting on a powder keg, especially after ACA was passed. RWers were hoping and looking for something, anything, that they could use to start an open rebellion. The timing was not right for bolder actions, and not possible when Dems did not have enough control of Congress. Walking a fine line to maintain some stability was difficult but essential.

OTOH, Biden took office after the pandemic, horrors of trumpism, and a violent insurrection exposed just how awful the RW is. Plus, he has both houses by slim margins, so Biden has to act fast to get the most done that he can. A quick, bold turnaround from the RW disaster is the best hope right now for bringing the nation back together under rational leadership. Defeating covid, restoring the economy, and improving people's lives is the surest way to gain support from the largest number of people. That's why Rs are scared enough to suppress the vote even more than before.

Obama and Biden have had to use different tactics for different times and national moods.

I am very pleased with Biden's boldness. I am also pleased with Obama's accomplishments while walking a hire wire without a net. He became a symbol for rationality and hope to sustain us through the former guy's insanity.

Met my husband when he was a grad student at a university in Erie, taking night classes and working days in the office where I worked. We moved around a bit for his job, and ended up in western NY. Chauauqua County is VERY west, but western NY includes Erie, Niagara, Monroe, Cattaraugus, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, and Livingston counties, plus a few more. Except to people in NYC. To them, EVERYTHING outside of the NYC boroughs and Long Island is simply "upstate. "

their attitude toward the rest of the state.

My husband's brother lived in Queens and worked in Manhattan (WTC). We visited him there a few times. When we lived in Cleveland and his brother visited us there, he called Cleveland a "quaint little town" and asked there was an orchestra, art museum, or any theater in Cleveland. I told him that he was being provincial and there really is a civilized world outside of his NYC cocoon.

I could live in moderate sized cities and I have. I could not live in NYC, but it is fun to visit.
