Even being vaccinated, I am still wearing my mask....

and social destanceing! They have been talk of some sort of mutant strain out there and I'm not taking any chances!

I personally will not take any chances with my life! And as long as we have dumb please out there I would advise my fellow Democrat not to get rid of their mask just yet either.

and it would be a safety guard against future variants that may eventually emerge with mutations that escape your vaccine-acquired immunity. As one who has worked in a surgical mask for decades, it isn't really that big of a deal.

Here in my town they are now saying store employees no longer need to wear masks. THIS will send a signal to everyone that they do not have to wear masks. Numbers here are going UP so it will be interesting.

Get my second Pfizer shot tomorrow. Two weeks later my husband will be headed to the barber. He's waited over a year for a haircut. LOL. I'll be glad to see the Mountain Man look disappear.

Hopefully, we'll see our grand baby sometime this summer. We'll be putting the house up for sale (again) and moving north to the outskirts of Philly or maybe South Jersey. My daughter-in-law and son have received their first round of shots because of Baby Cassandra's compromised lungs. So, by the time we're up for a visit we should be able to spend quality time together.

Things are beginning to turn in the right direction with plans postponed now anticipated.

Hallelujah!

One I am vaccinated, of course... 12 days and counting until my first injection. Hoping it turns out to be J&J, so I'm one-and-done, but it could be another seven weeks until I'm maximally protected.

I'm not going to be all that personally worried about getting infected, unless I hear specific news about dangerous resistant strains. But it's still polite and setting a good example to mask up until everyone gets the go-ahead to shed their masks.

Also, now that people have gotten used to seeing masks all over the place, I might consider using my masks from time to time in the future, perhaps during flu season, or when I'm feeling ill myself.

The vaccine is known to prevent hospitalization and death. It DOES NOT stop you from getting the virus. I’ve had the damn thing and I don’t ever want that again. My mask stays on, required or not.

I also remember articles stating that vaccinated people could possibly carry the virus and spread it.

So for all those reasons, I think everyone should keep wearing one for a while yet.

Also, I don't EVER want to be mistaken for a stupid filthy republicon.

I keep it in my front left pocket. Whenever someone comes walking the other way down the sidewalk, hand goes in pocket without me looking up from my phone. Same if I approach any kind of store or business. Muscle memory is put the car in park, open door, put on mask, walk towards business.

I found a very comfortable mask on Amazon that doesn't bother the slightest.

I imagine I'll keep doing it for quite awhile. Doesn't hurt. Haven't been sick - not even a cold - all year. Party bonus.

I did get to visit with my parents for 5 hours in their home, unmasked on Sunday. They live in a retirement community that has has either 0 or 1 case during the pandemic (there's something weird about why it isn't definitive, but I don't recall what it is). But - they have proven they know how to keep people safe. And they now permit vaccinated residents to have unmasked visits of up to 5 hours with people from red counties (purple being the highest).

All 4 of us are vaccinated - and 3 of the 4 of us are extremely cautious about interactions with others.

So small, things like that give me a little break and some family interaction I haven't had in more than a year.

It's kind of annoying but that doesn't stop me from doing what's needed to be done for my health, and my neighbors etc.

I am looking forward to giving my sister a big ole hug, and she to me (we are from a huggy family) in about 6 weeks, or so when we meet up for a playdate. She's about 5 days from her second shot's 2 weeks full effect.

We order carryout, but we are not going to do dining-in anytime soon. Too many anti-maskers are the one's in our area flocking to the restaurants.
