(12,441 posts)A thousand times over. And because of that, Biden really is bringing the country together despite all the moaning from DC Republicans. Americans of all political stripes are poised and ready for an American renaissance that will benefit everyone.
We've waited long enough. This is the moment, and we have the right people leading the way.

An amazing mix of old fashioned American values and 21st century progressive thought.
God Bless you Joe.

(17,459 posts)So true also. There isn't a phony bone in his body. Everything he says comes across as being entirely sincere.
We are so fortunate to have him at this time.

It comes to together in a way that is perfection itself.
I am a big Biden fan, but even I am flabbergasted, in a good way.

(17,459 posts)I think we should keep that saying in mind (especially younger people) when evaluating what works/doesn't work/etc. Older people need to keep their minds open to the things that younger people think work best and younger people need to remember that some of what we learned or did in the past actually works better than complicating simple tasks with software just because we have technology.
Joe has the wisdom of age and experience but he's open minded enough to see that the future belongs to the young, not us. Our time left on this earth is limited. I always admired how he never seemed to have any problem working for a man much younger than him (Obama) and vice versa. They were a great combination.

AMY GOODMAN: As a presidential candidate, Joe Biden vowed last year to reverse Trumps policy. In February of 2020, Biden issued this statement to Vox. He said, The Trump administrations reversal of years of considered decisions by Democratic and Republican presidents to curtail the use of landmines is another reckless act by a president ill-suited to serve as commander-in-chief. It will put more civilians at risk of being injured by unexploded mines, and is unnecessary from a military perspective. As president, I will promptly roll back this deeply misguided decision. That was Joe Biden a year ago. So, how do you have then, on Monday, the Pentagon spokesperson defending the continued use of landmines, and then, because of outcry on Tuesday, the Pentagon says, OK, well review this?
JODY WILLIAMS: Certainly is a contradiction and something that those of us who have fought against landmines for decades do not understand. It was fully expected that President Biden would roll back the policy fairly immediately.
Ive been reading some of the statements of others about it, and Senator Leahy from the great state of Vermont still contends that Biden will reverse the policy. I would suggest to Senator Leahy and others who support banning landmines that they pressure him to do it now and not do another military review. When I heard about the review, I actually laugh is not the right word, but I was, like, totally confused, because its been reviewed time and time and time again. How many more reviews does one need to do to know that those weapons have no place on this planet?
