Gallup poll shows largest increase in Democratic Party affiliation in a decadehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/gallup-poll-shows-largest-increase-083009787.html
More Americans identify as Democrats than Republicans by a margin that hasn't been seen in a decade, according to a report released by Gallup on Wednesday.
An average of 49% of adults age 18 and older reported Democratic Party affiliation or said they are independent with Democratic leanings throughout the first quarter of 2021, the pollster reported. The survey was conducted by phone from January-March.
In comparison, 40% of adults identified as Republican or Republican-leaning. The 9% difference is the Democrats' largest advantage since the fourth quarter of 2012, according to the report.
The remaining 11% of respondents were political independents with no partisan leanings

(7,715 posts)Good news because it is the reality: if we vote and ARE ALLOWED to vote, we will win every time (almost). The Rethugs could still be content with Alabama and Wyoming, I guess.
Bad news because it is precisely this that is the basis of the massive voter suppression movement in many states. Hopefully, through PR, voter registration, boycotts, and legal action, we will be able to counter this. It won't be easy, but it is doable. We just can't let up from the pressure we have been putting on very effectively over the last few years.
Just imagine, if there were a comparable R President picture, it would feature stalwarts like trump, W, and Nixon. And while Nixon was the last competent R president, the amorality of all of them, back to everyone of them except Ike, is their most pervasive quality.

(14,286 posts)from having won so big. Everyone loves a good winner.
Some of it is Trump's big lie falling apart and his worsening mental illnesses.
But a lot of it is Joe setting a good example, just keeping his head down and doing the work, and being able to get stuff done. We'd be in a very different place without Warnock and Ossoff.
Finally, Joe is a decent man and reminds most people of what this country used to stand for. I hope he runs again in 2024. He would win.
