Biden set to unveil a flurry of executive actions on gun violence.

*Direct the DOJ within 30 days to issue a regulation for ghost guns. Since unserialized, DIY firearms are outside the normal supply chain, the action may involve how the ATF classifies 80 percent lower receivers, partially finished gun components that are one of the most common ways to build a ghost gun and can be freely purchased without a background check.

*Direct the DOJ within 60 days to propose a rule for regulating so-called stabilizing braces, popular accessories intended to increase the accuracy of AR-15-style pistols and allow users to fire them much like their rifle counterparts. As we reported, the devices have been implicated in at least two mass shootings — including Boulder — and allows a category of firearms to evade strict federal regulations.

*Issue annual reports on gun trafficking, something the DOJ hasn’t done in two decades.

*Within 60 days, create a model legislation for red flag laws, measures which allow law enforcement and family members to remove firearms from at-risk people.

*Make changes to 26 federal grant programs across five different agencies to prioritize funding for community violence interventions. That announcement is in addition to the $5 billion in funding for community-based gun violence prevention the White House proposed in its jobs and infrastructure bill last week.

giving a shit what gunners think.

If they're really Democrats they will either vote for Ds or stay home. If they're not really Democrats they'll never vote D anyway. Why take their opinion into account? They have forfeit any say in gun reform by being totally opposed to any, even the smallest, compromise.

I hope we keep doing what Joe is doing; plow ahead and just let the opposition fuck off.

... in swing states.

It would have taken only 6,000 GA voters to swing the other way in 2020.

The 1994 AWB did hurt us when the Republicans took over 2 months later. Bill Clinton bemoaned the push-back in his memoir.

swing in 1994.

Gunner influence in national politics is way over inflated as is their ego.

I doubt many of my gun loving neighbors are actual swing votes, but when gun safety laws are being discussed it gets their attention in a huge way.

Example, 2016, with Hillary expected to take the White House and the gun lobby fear machine in full tilt, it was a hot topic as was voting. 2018 with the orange idiot in the white house blocking anything of substance, they didn't seem to care much about politics.

Its not swing votes as much as it is a right wing turnout driver.
