COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City was put on hold on Wednesday afternoon after 11 patients experienced adverse side effects after receiving the shot. Centura Health originally said 18 people were affected, but later corrected that number to 11 people.

The site was using the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen coronavirus vaccine.

“We got there about 2:30, early, and then about five cars away from being next to get the shot and they stopped it,” recalled Paul Doucett, who was scheduled to receive the vaccine at the site. “There were two ambulances there. One was pulling in as we were pulling in and there was one already set up there. At least an hour-and-a-half passed before they said, ‘We’re just not comfortable with the adverse reactions, so we’ve got to reschedule you guys.'”

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says the patients experienced symptoms like nausea and dizziness. They add there is no reason to believe other people who were vaccinated at this site should be concerned.

were released to be used.

But when they start throwing around numbers like 15 million doses, then 65 million, it makes you wonder what's going on.

65 million doses is a lot to slip through quality control.

Not enough staff and the director paid himself over 20 million last yr. J & j will move to a lab with more supervision????? Emergent sounds sleazy in regard to their price raising for the anthrax vaccine, not making a better anthrax vaccine, etc to connections with Trump’s White House and buddies. NYT’s has articles about this lab and they are not good.

Because Emergent screwed up, there will be a shortage of J&J starting next week.

There is not that much of it going to US. Emergent has had its problems. .

Emergent plant that ruined Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses had prior FDA violations. “ Emergent’s coronavirus vaccine production line has not yet been certified by the FDA, federal officials have said. The FDA, Emergent and Johnson & Johnson have not publicly discussed why this is. Until the certification is final, vaccine made there cannot be distributed to consumers. In the meantime, Johnson & Johnson has been shipping vaccine made in the Netherlands for U.S. supply.”.

arm ached (still does)
i was really tired yesterday & took a nap
woke up from nap with major chills
today i'm not so tired, but my legs ache--kind of like they do if i'm getting the flu or something

HOWEVER i expect to be feeling better tomorrow
(i was still able to go to work yesterday & today and do my job--so it wasn't THAT bad)

the morning of my appointment i got an email from the county telling me i could get an appointment now, but i didn't want to risk losing the opportunity for the vaccine so i stuck with j&j on wednesday.

i figured it was hard enuf to get an appointment and important enuf to not give it up. (partly because illinois is opening up to anyone who is at least 16 yrs old--and i figured if i didn't get it now that it might take me forever to get another appointment with one of the other vaccines)

I am kind of expecting that might happen since that was how I felt when I got my flu and pneumonia shots, which is why I had it scheduled for a Saturday. Stocking up on plenty of "sick food" (juice, tea, broth, toast & butter, ginger ale, etc.) just in case I am not feeling well enough to leave my apartment.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

just kidding about the soup. actually i was able to eat. i drank a lot of water--still drinking a lot of water. also, i was told i could take tylenol but i didn't take anything. tylenol might have been a good idea but i didn't want to take anything that might mess with the vax unless absolutely necessary. and i guess i didn't feel like it was absolutely necessary. so...

just pamper yourself and take it easy for a couple days. my neighbor says the reactions mean it is working. oh, okay then--i guess it's working with me. lol

I only like my own homemade soup. Yes, the reaction is a good thing! It's your body's immune response kicking in, so it's totally natural, even though you don't feel very well while you are going through it!

I had first Moderna shot and had no reaction till 7 days later when my shot site got hot and I developed a rash on my neck and back of my head, lower back, upper thighs. Lasted 7 days and felt like chigger bites.

Same with my 2 Pfizer doses. Except a little soreness in my arm the next day on my second dose. Way less than a tetanus jab.

11 people out of 1800, it’s about statistically correct. 2 went to the hospital. We have never mass vaccinated like this before, so it APPEARS abnormal, but it’s not.

On edit: Hell I would bet the dizzy spells were from people with phobia and had both to do with the shot

Those appear to be normal side effects, not sure why they would close mass vaccination sites based on normal rate of side effects.

And someone mentioned they might think about recliners for the shots. If they have too many reactions to a shot they stop to make sure the batch is ok before they proceed.

My husband and I were first. It was two weeks ago Tuesday. My husband came home and slept for 3 hours. No other effects. That evening and into the night and early morning after I got the shot I felt like I had the flu with chills, fever, mild headache and mild muscle aches. Felt pretty good during the day on Wednesday but Wednesday evening I had a slight fever. Was nearly back to normal on Thursday. Neither my husband or I had a sore arm. Our DIL got hers the Thursday after we got ours. She only had a sore arm. Our son was next on the following Monday. He had a slight fever and chills that night. As Tuesday progressed he was fine. No sore arm. Our daughter got hers a week ago Tuesday. She had flu like symptoms, mild fever, and ear pain. It took her a couple of days to be back to normal but she had Covid last November. Our SIL got his the day after our daughter. He had no reaction at all.

Supposedly older folks might have less immune response than younger and therefor fewer side effects. The flu vaccine has a stronger shot for the elderly because of this problem.

I react to the regular flu shot so I was pretty sure I would to this one too. My spouse never has a problem with the flu shot. Neither of us are afraid of shots or needles.

I experienced: fever, nausea, aches, racing heartbeat, extreme headache, extreme ache in my eyes (I think due to the headache), and overall weakness. I could not get cool it seems but I tend to run hot. Zero arm pain, no chills. And a bit of a fuzzy head after the headache disappeared.

My husband had chills, racing heartbeat, headache and experienced all over weakness. Apparently, after I went to bed the first night, he fell asleep on the couch, woke up and was unable to move to get up and go to bed (I remember people with covid saying they just couldn't move). After he slept a few hours, he was able to get up and come to bed. He had arm pain for a day or so.

For me, this differed from the regular flu shot in length (I'm usually worse for longer with the regular flu shot) and I usually have chills but not this kind of headache.
