(90,673 posts)In general, it might be safer for someone in her situation to just become Independent. Alaska Repubs treated her really nasty, last time around.

(54,369 posts)If she were to diminish McTurtle's contingent by one, that would be a BIG "minus one."
AND--she would still have to win the election, too. The Republicans would pour a fortune into that race to try to make sure she didn't.

(32,762 posts)Dotards idiot blonde pick was 33%, murkowski 18%. She is well liked there by the voters

(9,953 posts)... I hope she wins... and she does have an instinct for political survival. Lisa should run as non-patrician, become Independent if she wins, and consider being an "I" Democrat. We need more real Progressives, but a few moderate Republican x-overs wouldn't hurt, if we need 60 votes for something.

(5,557 posts)She knows she probably can't get elected in AK as a D.
This is not like the Manchin situation, switching parties would hurt her electability

(8,171 posts)how changing her political affiliation will benefit her.

(26,731 posts)She can survive as a hypothetical I who everyone knows will caucus with Republicans... but she probably cant survive as a Democrat.
And thats before noting that she has explicitly rejected the idea.

(8,756 posts)She won an improbable independent bid when she lost a GOP primary. I don't think she'll all that concerned.
