Democratic Rep. Katie Porter of California called President Joe Biden's decision to split up his infrastructure plan into separate jobs and family components a major error.
"This idea that there are two separate buckets, a bucket of American Jobs Plan ... and this idea he has a second plan coming soon that he's called the American Families Plan. I told the White House, 'I think this is a big mistake,'" she said in an Axios interview published Friday.
She continued: "I think it's mislabeling what you know as president to be true, which is that all of this is about our economy and economic recovery."
"Strong family policy is strong jobs policy," she said. Porter previously expressed a fear that women could be left behind in the Biden plan, CNBC reported.

(15,325 posts)Negotiating with them is a chess game & no one is more adept at drawing from his years of doing exactly that in the Senate, than Joseph R Biden.
Sit back & watch. It is the Republicans that caused Biden to seperate the two. And here's why. Classic Joe Biden.

(15,325 posts)Pretty much explains why he must offer the 2 seperately, considering he has to have Repub support. I'd just say that Biden knows the long game from his many years of experience that Rep Porter doesn't yet have as a new Rep. But her concerns are noted.

Biden to push infrastructure before health and family care in next phase of economic plan
*President Joe Biden will separate his sprawling plan to upgrade the nation's infrastructure into two separate pieces that he will unveil weeks apart, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Sunday.
*Psaki said on Fox News Sunday that Biden will unveil the first part of his plan, focusing on items like rebuilding roads and railways, on Wednesday.
*The second part of Biden's plan will include child-care and health-care reforms aspects of what is sometimes called social infrastructure and will be released in "in just a couple of weeks," she said.
