My next door neighbour is selling his house. I wrote about him how he was considering Arizona but decided on Lake of the Ozarks instead. Too many Democrats in Arizona, he said. Served in the Navy and evaded jail for growing weeds because of PTSD. Both of us had yard signs last fall. Mine won, his lost.
Anyhoo, he got a great price from Zillow and he and his spouse and friends did all the packing. Then came a crew that cleaned the house and the yard and tossed a lot of junk.
But.. he left the Stars and Stripes by the front entrance.
So I am curious: if the new owners choose to express their patriotism in their own way, how would they handle the flag? Donate it to a local VFW, I suppose.

(2,385 posts)WE should (a bad word, I know) all fly the stars and stripes and reclaim it from the fascists...
When Biden won I got one, a small one, albeit as I live in a group of townhouses and had to fly it from my window sill. And My sis and BIL got a HUGE, really HUGH, one and fly it from their home in Long Beach, CA. PLUS they drove around LGB with my sis(white)driving and my BIL (black) in the back seat waving another big one !!
Hit 'em where it hurts.

I think we should all claim the flag as the symbol of the world's first liberal democracy that it has been from the very beginning. Before it comes to stand for a fascist state.

(23,339 posts)It looked better last fall, when there was a Biden/Harris lawn sign under the flag.
But it flies until Flag Day, when it's burned and replaced with a new, untattered flag.

(14,856 posts)Either is acceptable disposition.
If it's in really good shape, or if they're squeamish about disposing of it themselves, they can give it to the VFW. The VFW will probably give it to a member who wants it, or they will dispose of it properly.
