Had a (1-10 scale, 10 being the worst) .25 ache about 45 mins after shot for about 5 mins I remembered to move my arm around. About 8+ hours had more 2-3 ache but only lifting it nearer to shoulder height. Got Tylenol if i need it.
I figure if any more effects - that'll be in the next 24+ hrs.
So far, so good.
I know it's usually the 2nd shot where more might occur. I do know at least 1 person who had nasty effects from the first one.
Corrected my spelling of Phyzer in the title 😁

(4,552 posts)Superior to Moderna?
Moderna was the only one available to us in NC from Walgreens.
Hubby and I are fully vaccinated and feeling very confident.
Should we be less so because we got Moderna instead of Pfizer (thru no fault of our own).
Just curious.
Thanks,
LisaL
(44,973 posts)Pfizer seems to be producing less side effects than Moderna. But that shouldn't make you less confident, since you already had Moderna and presumably side effects. I had Moderna. Going through side effects right now.

(4,552 posts)Sympathies! But, by the time you read this response, you will probably already be feeling a bit better.?.?
My reaction lasted for about a day.
Tylenol/Advil/rest/fluids/pamper yourself.

(19,956 posts)The efficacy of both are really high, and both use the new mRNA technology. I'm happy I got the Astrazeneca vaccine but I would love to have received the Pfizer or Moderna, lucky you !

(4,552 posts)I had a wicked 24 hrs after dose #2 of Moderna. Got the reported fever, shaking chills, and everything hurt. I was positive I actually had the flu.
Thank heavens it resolved by evening of day#2.

(14,891 posts)the reason I'm concerned is the last time I actually had a fever, aches, chills was around 51 years ago - the last time I had the flu. Will get the flu shot in Oct ot so for the first time.

(33,643 posts)I can definitely tell I got stabbed in the shoulder muscle yesterday if I lift my arm up, or put pressure on the area, but it's no different than any other shot in the arm I've gotten.
Well, except for the Typhoid shot I got at 13 y.o. That one sucked pretty bad.

(244 posts)Nit fun. But the worst for me was the shingles shots. Arm hurt for a week after both!

(14,891 posts)my dad had a nasty (but not the worst) case.

(33,643 posts)That one threw me for a loop, only vaccine that ever messed me up like that.
I was in Hong Kong at the time, about 14, and we were going to the Philippines.

🤔 A singular typhoid shot?
For myself I remember the DTP initials. ?Ditheria, Typhoid, and ...what was "P" Pertussis?

(244 posts)I had Pfizer. A little sore area for a couple of days. A little tired. No but deal. I was fine the day of the second shot, but woke up the next day achy with a low grade fever. All over by the following day.
electric_blue68
(14,891 posts)I have a thermometer, and a bottle of Tylenol on my nightstand for either later (maybe I'll have just have the mild sore shoulder this round), or for shot #2.
Stallion
(6,474 posts)but yeah I'd rate the pain index to be less than 1 on a 10 point scale on both shots-just the slightest muscle ache like mosquito bite

(14,891 posts)Good you had the most minor effects, then?

(11,794 posts)The only side effects I had on the second were some tiredness and odd headaches that would come and go. That lasted about a day.
electric_blue68
(14,891 posts)(maybe) because you're the first person I've heard of who had more arm pain on the first shot.
róisín_dubh
(11,794 posts)that I discovered the morning after the first. And it was a real pain to get out (and still itches and hurts from time to time almost 4 weeks later).
So that could have been it.

(11,794 posts)and got a massive dose of some antibiotic (I forget which). It's the first time in my 43 years I've actually had a tick embedded. The timing was not great

(639 posts)No arm pain from either dose, no chills, aches or any side effects.
I still mask, wash hands obsessively and limit exposure to other people as much as possible.
My 2nd dose was on Feb 20th.
Not sure if getting another CoVid-19 test to see if I was exposed to CoVid and if I might be contagious to others.
If offered one, I will accept it and get tested again- post inoculation.
I still strictly mask, if leaving home. Wash (sanitize hands) before going into a store (mainly just grocery) and after leaving the store,
I also wipe down my car interior before I get out of it - to know it's cleaned before I use the car in the future.
I don't think I am immune from CoVid, but that I have an added level of protection that will last and reduce the possibility of serious side effects or hospitalization.
electric_blue68
(14,891 posts)mask up and distance!
On a sunny very warm day I might take off my second mask in the park, or garden. Otherwise 2 masks - unless there's some surprise good news to just wear one again.
No indoor dining. I will eat outdoors 1x -2x every 4 - 6 weeks with my sis, or other friends. I ate outdoors w my sis but not till ?late Sept '20 when things were better in NYC.. We had 3 more meals together before it got too cold after early Bov. We didn't see each other again till late this March.
Obviously if things get dicey that would change.
I also know this is to vastly reduce or eliminate hospitalization, and death - continuing protocols reduces it even further. 👍

(11,420 posts)came up with the idea to allow Kroger to hand out shots gets a fucking raise. They can barely keep fresh milk in stock.
They say people are having a hard time navigating the websites to sign up. It's not the people it's the shitty websites.
