Officer accused of force in stop of Black Army officer fired

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — One of two police officers accused of pepper-spraying and pointing their guns at a Black Army officer during a traffic stop has since been fired, a Virginia town announced late Sunday, hours after the governor called for an independent investigation into the case.

The town of Windsor said in a statement that it joined calls from election officials, including Gov. Ralph Northam, in requesting an investigation by Virginia State Police into the December 2020 encounter in which two Windsor officers were accused of drawing their guns, pointing them at U.S. Army second lieutenant Caron Nazario and using a slang term to suggest he was facing execution.

One officer was fired so now on to the courts. If the second officer survives, his punishment should be continued training with new policies, I’ll bet. Make him go to every class, every day and give a l talk on what happened, how he handled it n what should be done so no one makes his mistake. My thoughts about this is to expose this guy n guilt shame him while he is in training class. And hopefully finds his way to be a better cop..if they let him. Or, fire him, too.

3. The department has known exactly what happened the entire time. Only when it becomes public

do they fire the guy. FFS, it's not like the PD didn't see the body cam footage before the recordings went viral on TV and every social media platform under the sun. That tells you exactly how the entire department should be viewed.

IOW, ACAB.

I first read about it yesterday(?) Today I read the police involved were still on the job. Now I read that one was fired at some point(?) They're so frigging dirty, and they're so used to getting away with it. Even though the video leaves no doubt, they still throw out the bullshit. They need to eat it.

It's no longer an officer of the law's word against ours.
In this case, there's no "waiting for the facts to come out". They've seen the recording.

reduce police budget by amounts paid out in civil case against cops. Only way to cut the thin blue line. When it cost every cop for the actions of a few bad cops, they will no longer protect them.
