In the last year, I've blown my brains out 5 times while answering my cell phone. Each time I accidentally un-holstered my Glock and pulled the trigger thinking I was answering the call. So embarrassing and messy.

Assh*les.

police dept won't bring him back, but paying a steep price, suing the police officer that shot him by accident, suing the city and city manager, etc. can send a strong signal to these idiots that shooting someone has serious consequences and that deciding when to shoot a person should be absolutely the last resort, absolutely.

What in the world do people need to do in order to stop these 'accidents' from happening, especially when they can't decide when to not shoot or shoot? Take their guns away? Kind of like the police in England, who (I think) operate w/o firearms.

SMH, in sadness (for his death), and SMH as to how dumb are these people that shot this victim, by accident?

... police officers, in this case the guy should've been allowed to go and just send out a warrant for him to be picked up. He wasn't an armed threat and their wasn't a history of violence in the warrant

2. Any officer that doesn't take the path of least escalation gets fired and exposed to the law, period. The rest of the world has to live up to path of least force in an instant in regards to ability to flee so should the police.

3. stop the policing of mostly black communities with mostly white PDs, at this point that's oppressive behavior historically and there are too many 88ers in too many PDs.

4. Look at what the Military Police are doing, we don't see unarmed shooting of PoC in military police for a reason and it's mostly because the respect the MPs have to give the community they're policing. The US military leadership is diverse enough where MPs can't just harass any PoC at will and have to watch their P's & Q's and follow training and rules.

In St. Louis, MO, we had problems at one time, in hiring, due to the lack of qualified non-white police officers (not enough job candidates of color were applying). It's been turned around somewhat here in the city, especially since the Ferguson upheavals happened (IMHO), and I think they pushed the doors further open to training more and thus, hiring more.

It takes time to develop an effective police force and control of the police force was brought back into the city finally (been controlled by the state, since the civil war, and of course, outside the city limits is dominated by guess who, republicans). I am happy because personally, I don't think republicans know squat about the City nor care really about the City.

Tasers are designed to feel and look different from service pistols for a reason.

Normally, they are also carried on opposite sides of the body.

What a clusterfuck! A young Black man is dead - killed by a cop. When will the cops learn?

When will the cops learn?

Not until the cops have to deal with the consequences. As long as taxpayers are footing the bill, there's no disincentive for the cops' screw-ups.

Even the Taser would be an overreaction in those circumstances. It would never have happened had the dead young guy been white. In fact, they never would have pulled him over on such a pretense. Never!

Felony Manslaughter at a minimum. Second Degree Murder would be better.

Individual officers need to be held responsible civilly as well. If there are no criminal charges (or the officers are found not guilty) and the taxpayers are left with the bill, then this stuff doesn't end.

... it was a traffic stop.

I agree with the trigger puller issue, if there doesn't need to be one on seen then there shouldn't be and the level of escalation has to fit the crime on its face.
