That warrant Daunte Wright was being arrested for is picayune--just like what he was

pulled over for. And now he's dead.Text

Text

The "warrant" on #DaunteWright was over unpaid fines for 2 minor misdemeanors — one a marijuana case — totaling $346. He pled guilty, filed for deferred payment and they were sent to collections DURING A PANDEMIC. Then he was pulled over for car air fresheners and killed over it.

The unsanitary dingbat that said she did not mean to pull her gun needs to be charged and stripped of her pension.

there was also a warrant for a gun charge (carrying without a permit), and a prior fleeing charge.

Not that any of it is particularly relevant, given that the contention is that the officer believed she was using a taser - so the decision to use a gun wasn't based on the possibilty that he might be carrying.

7. If it was a serious warrant, they would have sent the warrant squad to his home

Most traffic stop related warrant arrests are for minor offenses. That's the nature of having a warrant out for your arrest for missing a court date or not paying the related fine. Most people arrested on a warrant are arrested for misdemeanors or even violations. You still gotta go to court.

8. That's not an arrest warrant. That's a record indicating a fine that was "sent to collections"...

According to the Associated Press:

Court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court on charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police in June. In that case, a statement of probable cause said police got a call about a man waving a gun who was later identified as Wright.”

The guy is plain wrong.

As noted above me, gun possession and fleeing are the reason for the warrants. An expired license plate was the reason for the initial stop.

Enough time has passed with the information out there that people should stop spreading incorrect "facts". It's clear the guy in the Tweet has no idea what he's even looking at.

... and they know that.

LEOs in my area were told plates aren't a big issue unless they see something else suspicious.

It’s a clear “driving while black” BS stop.
